#8 Tennessee @ Georgia Game Thread 5:00 PM EST FSN/ ESPN360

Yeah, but those late points don't matter nearly as much as giving up when you're measuring the sting of losing. Given the way the game went, I would've rather have had the difference go from 14 to 25 in the last minute if we were fighting, rather than keep it to 14 by giving up.

so you'd rather us- and everyone who makes any important decision see - lose by 25-30 and make it look like an even worse blowout?

You are right about the seeding. They can't lose games like this. You have to get a good seeding and bracket to have the best chance to advance. Pearl is always talking about that. Look what happened last year when we got a crappy seed. Man for man Georgia does not have the players we have. That's why this blowout loss stinks so bad. Overall talent isn't anywhere close to ours.

The thing about seeding is even when we have a great year and SHOULD be a #1 seed.....they give us a #2 seed in the hardest bracket, and say they were trying to "help" us with location. I think everyone knows what i speak of.

and you do know that our resume is still pretty decent, with the high rpi and the kansas victory - which at the very worst this could cancel out, but i'd argue that it really doesn't completely either - unless he just flat out fall through january and february we're going to have a really good record and get a pretty good seed

we were never going to get a number 1 or 2 though if that's what you were getting at/ going for

no but going from a 3-6 to a 7-9 is pretty significant. and just as equally bad is if we get shipped to the west coast.

Hmvolfan, exactly my point. An elite team that is suppose to be in the top 10 should NEVER be blown out by a muffin team like Georgia that has that type of record. Upsets happen, yes, but the good programs get upset by a few points and bounce back. We have two blowout losses to less than average teams.

Kentucky has is all right now. Inside, outside, and probably the best PG in the nation. The only thing that might hurt them in the tourny is their youth. Can you imagine if Meeks would have stayed?

Ha I probably could. If he stayed, they would be unstoppable. I feel like they will drop a game, but they will go deep in the touney. It will be a challenge to play them both at home and especially away

Kansas lost to us but it was close. Duke loses games but they are close. Florida lost to us a few years ago when they won it all, but it was close. Losing to a good team by a respectable margin happens in basketball, but losing by a large margin to a team like Georgia should not happen if we are truly a top 15 or 20 program.

i agree with you 100%. Georgia unfortunately exposed us with all the interior dunks with their bigs. Now what happens when Patrick patterson and Demarcus Cousins post us up???:cray:

I hope Georgia loses the rest of their games, just so I will feel better about things. I don't like the looks of that coach. He reminds me of someone you see registered on the sex offender list. LOL He has an odd look to him and it stinks that we loss to that goober.

Talk to Pearl and his guys about the loss.

if we stay ranked though, i doubt we're going to fall below 8

that said, you're looking at what....maybe 2 really guaranteed losses left? and if they keep playing like they had been before this game.....you see them losing more than maybe 4 or 5 from what's left?

Georgia will not finish better than 6-10 or 7-9 in the conference. It hurts bad when teams like that beat us the way they just beat us.

Tennessee needs to go no worse than 12-4 in the conference and they will secure a top 4 seed, but this loss hurts alot with games against two much better teams looming next week.

There's a funk about this team...like the are in a daze on O. They will rack up a lot losses the rest of the way out.....unless they can hit 50% from the 3 point range.

This loss just ruins by weekend. I take losing a game too seriously. I wish it didn't bother me but it really eats at me when we lose a game like this one.

we are about 1 top 15-20 team. i wouldnt say top 10. i know we beat Kansas but NCAA committee weighs road and neutral games the most.

well duke just lost to nc state on This was a game against an opponet that was 8-8 (0-3). The game was played in a crappy gym at 5. Not a primetime night game or a natl televised game. UGA looked at this game as a big oppertunity and UT just wanted out of there. UT will be alright and I do look for them to finish no worse in the SEC than 11-5.

Tough loss today. Tennessee played horrible. I had a bad feeling about this game. I don't know if it had something to do with seeing the Lady Vols lose or what. UGA doesn't have THAT bad of a team. Vols have to prepare for Vandy now. Which will be another tough challenge. Got to put it behind 'em and move on.

Go Vols!

Absolutely!

We're making the NCAAs unless we continue to collapse so that's no issue. The only other problem would be poll ranking, and that's going to go way down no matter what.

But lots of people are going to want to read a summary of this game because of UGA's previous record and our victory over Kansas. Much better to have us go down fighting in people's eyes (and our team's, more importantantly), than just to give up early and, worse, be that kind of team.

Acting like losers is bad enough. Acting like losers in the hopes of fooling folks that we didn't play like losers is just pathetic. To me, that was the only UT-shaming thing we did tonight.

UT came out flat and remained that way for the entire game. It was one of those games when NOTHING, I mean NOTHING went their way.

The zone gave us problems from the start. I think CBP was surprised by this, because the zone offense was ugly. Three high guards rotating the ball around the perimeter with two forwards picking and re-picking under the goal. The key to a good zone offense is either good shooting or penetration. It was obvious that the 3PTs were not falling, starting 1/9, but there was never really an attempt to try to break into that zone. I know CBP has a play where Chism flashes at the FT line, and that play has had some success. I don't remember seeing it today and I found myself yelling at the TV for the players to MOVE and try to get OPEN. UGA has some big, physical boys underneath, but I still would have like to have seen something try to get to the middle of that zone.

In NCAA basketball you are going to have these games, especially on the road. Don't be discouraged Vol fans, I think this team is going to be alright.

Stegeman coliseum is a dump! They have the little circular island things for washing your hands with the bar you step on for water. I had those in elementary school. I would be ashamed if I was a UGA fan.

My son thought people were washing their hands in the urinal.
