8 Years of Emotional Outbursts

No, I just decided that since every time a liberal is offended he is "whining", so the same must be true for conservatives.

I probably didn't state my case clearly (and in truth it was 1/2 in jest). The Pew findings are more in line with what I meant. The nature of expression from the left has seemed more emotional or volatile to me. When it comes to the merits of either extreme's arguments - that's a clear wash.

I don't disagree with you on any of this.

Honestly try to compare what happens when like circumstances occur between the two parties.

Foley vs Mahoney. Both involving sex scandals. In the 8 days after each scandal the NYT published 67 stories on Foley vs 4 for Mahoney. (the latter on A12 or deeper) If you want to go back a bit look up D-Gerry Studds. Censured for sex with an underage male page he nevertheless remained in office for 13 years before he retired.

Look how Sarah Palin's tax questions were treated as opposed to Geithner's. And that guy's the SecTres nominee.

Scooter Libby was found to have, apparently, covered up something that wasn't there to cover up. The person that "outed" Plame to Robert Novak was Dick Armitage. Meanwhile, Sandy Berger admitted to flat out stealing and destroying classified documents. Some he had secreted under a trailer on a construction site. He copped a plea for a fine, 2 years probation and 100hrs community service.

People went nuts when Bush fired 8 US attorneys (some of that rhetoric was incredible) but I believe Clinton canned all but 1 US attorney in '93.

Compare what Tom Delay was accused of (and Reid's rhetoric of said) and what William Jefferson was stone-cold caught doing. Even though the latter was busted in '05 accepting a bribe he remained in office until last month. IIRC he was also named to the Homeland Security Committee AFTER being busted with FBI bribe money is his freezer.

I'd have to look for it but somewhere somebody started a list of how many of the big media outlets will simply omit party affiliation if it's damning news about a Democrat. It wasn't some one-off fluke either, they'd compiled a number of examples where if it was bad news you just don't bring up the "D word".

Look, corruption in politicians is absolutely a bi-partisan affair. Frankly you shouldn't go too far in trusting any of them. That is precisely what makes me so acutely aware of slanting media coverage. Having the watchdogs play favorites is, to me, very bad mojo.

Well, I would ask how many eggs hit the new President's motorcade today, how many republicans lined up down Penn Ave, and flipped-off the incoming President today? And how will his fawning followers react when his effigy is hung and burned on some college campus like every other President before him?

The SPCA has been around for well over a hundred years and they say; "politics is not a spectator sport."

That being said, most people aren't really involved enough in politics, they just don't feel the responsibility as a citizen to actually be involved in some way which leaves the door wide open for people such a PEW, who openly state that they intend to use their resources to influence public policy, and others who are funded by tax free foundations that have almost unlimited resources, to form non-govermental organizations (NGOs) that actively lobby and/or campaign for those who will support their agenda and do a very good job of getting those who oppose defeated in the election process.

The reality is that the backbone of the nation, those that get the job done and are the real creators of the wealth of this nation are marginalized because after their toil and labor is done they have little remaining time to devote to politics, unfortunately many of those use nearly all of that time entertaining themselves rather than actually studying to be informed on the real issues.

I know the lefties here will be offended but I'm so over the emotional response from the left over the last 8 years.

I know it goes both ways but the level of screaming, teeth gnashing and over the top ranting about W has now been replaced by gushing, fawning, expressions of jubilation about Obama. Lefties just seem to need to express themselves emotionally more than righties.

Honestly people - take a Xanax and chill out. :)

.........or could it be just a response to the type of threads designed to manipulate and provoke such responses!:p
