That is the number of daily heat records broken in the U.S. in July.

For those of you who come on here claiming that a few cold winter days here or there means there is no global warming, ****.

Global warming is one claim, saying we are the cause or can do anything about it is a whole other claim.

Don't know that we'll ever get a definitive answer on the subject. There are loons on both sides who are adamant they have proven their side is correct.

I will say this though, this summer has seemed unusually hot. Some days were absolutely brutal this year.

It really hasn't been that bad in Miami. Knoxville and Chattanooga can actually be much warmer than the summer I've experienced down here.

Its been awful here in Orlando. Heat indexes have been over 100 for probably 6 weeks or so, every day. Just brutal out.

well last summer was unusually cool. i can't rem last year being bad at all. then last winter(at least for huntsville, al) was unusually cold, and snowy. i've lived here for 10 years and before last year the most i saw it snow here might have been 2 inches. last year we had 2-3 snows of at least 5 inches. including one snow that was between 10-12 inches around the huntsville area.

that being said, the spring was unusually violent, and this summer has been pretty hot. is it just running a cycle?

Everyone please make your check payable for your carbon taxes to Al Gore so he can put a stop to this madness.

I'll use the standard arguments:

1. It's called "global" not "US" warming. Was it hotter everywhere?
2. A season's temperature is insufficient evidence to argue for or against GW.

I agree. Only posted the fact on the heat records to offset the absurd threads from last couple of years when it was cooler out.

While it is warm here in the Northern Hemisphere, its cold in the Southern Hemisphere.

Freak snowfall has NZ reeling

New Zealand is shivering through a one-in-50-year polar blast that has brought snow to much of the country, the weather service says.

A bitterly cold southerly blast has caused snow to fall in areas of New Zealand which do not usually receive it, making roads impassable in many areas on both islands, closing airports and cutting power to thousands.

Staff at Wellington Zoo took advantage of the first major snowfall in the capital for 40 years to give the visiting penguin ''Happy Feet'' a dip in an icy saltwater pool.

Last summer in NETN, we set a record for the most days with 90+ degree weather, somewhere around 55. Into the 40+ days over 90 this summer. Unless you don't live in ETN, you are probably thinking of the summer of '09. There was less than 10 days of 90+ weather.

Was this sarcasm?

I read this as you being dismissive to the predictable bourgeois refrains ignoring the mountain of hard scientific data across many disciplines and even the anecdotal evidence anyone over 30 could relate. However, given your usual stance on issues relative to mine, I am having trouble reconciling that view.

don't mess with gator's religion.

Not my religion. I really don't have a strong opinion on global warming. The science of causation makes sense to me, but I don't claim to know the answer.

What I DO know, however, is that folks like you every winter post a thread about a cold snap somewhere as proof positive that there is no global warming.

The thread is meant entirely to say that I can find examples of extreme heat and you can find examples of extreme cold, so let's just admit that these anecdotal or occasional outliers don't really have any value in the debate.

So, seasonal temperatures don't have any value in the global warming debate? Interesting.
