#9 South Carolina @ Vanderbilt

I was hoping Vandy would win. They played awful football and could have given a USC a key SEC loss.

Vandy got hosed on that call, but they would have still needed to put it in the endzone. They got lucky on the first TD and didn't sniff the endzone again all game long.

Both teams look very beatable - but for a first game and an SEC game on the road - what do you expect.

Shaw is their offense though.

And for the record Franklin is a great motivator, an okay recruiter and a terrible X's and O's coach - that gameplan was bad - some of those calls were head scratching - and yes, he calls the plays.

100 percent spot on. Especially the play calling.

It only took SEC officiating 3 1/2 hours for the first major screw up of the year.

I would say there were several screw ups in that game. The pi is magnified because of the timing. You think the missed call where Rodgers stepped out of bounds was important? Or the multiple, multiple holds that were overlooked were not important. It is what it is. A missed call that no team should depend on to win a game.

You act like Vandy did nothing good in the game.

They just lost to a top ten team by under 5 points. No matter how either team played, Vandy stayed in the game. Should have been a little more interesting if PI was called. No one is denying that if SC really played like they should that Vandy would have been crushed. But SC didn't and Vandy got some big plays to stay in the game.

USCe is not a top 10 team! If Vandy ever had a chance to win a big time SEC game it was last night. USC is at best an 8-4 team and that is if Shaw can stay healthy. Both teams looked terrible, Vandy will be luck to come out of next weeks game with a W.

I agree completely that South Car. isn't a top ten team the way they played last night. But the talent's there. As long as Shaw throws decently and Lattimore isn't hurt, they'll have a solid top 20 team.

I'm not convinced that USCe is a bona-fide Top 10 team. They will get better as the season progresses, but their passing game did not impress me at all. The better SEC defenses will contain Shaw and Lattimore, at which point the lack of a passing game will hurt them.

Vandy was fired up; at home; and still managed to lose to a very under-motivated opponent that only scored 17 points. Jordan Rodgers appears to be a solid QB, but their running game is inconsistent, and their size up front will hurt them as the season takes it's toll. I'm also interested to see if Franklin can keep this team motivated once they pick up their 3rd or 4th loss.

All in all, USCe surprised me by only scoring 17, and Vandy did exactly what I thought they would do: lose.

If I were a UK fan, I'd be very worried about Vandy. For all other SEC teams outside the State of Mississippi, not so much.

Go Vols.

I'm not really worried about any games this year. If it takes 0-12 to get Joker out, fine with me.

South Car. is overrated, yes. Vandy will be Vandy. All that needs to be said.

Freaking hate agreeing with this, but I have to.
