Some liberals here in Oklahoma tried getting some of the local schools to change away from the "racist" Redskins mascot name.

They were politely asked by the local tribal members to **** right off.

The school was right in the middle of Pott Nation territory and about a third of the school population were carded tribal members.

The washington team has the worst name in the NFL..."Commanders". How on Earth did that end up the name when it could have been pretty much any other noun in the English language?? Seriously. Whats wrong with say "Wolves" or "Wolverines " ? Just about anything is better than what they chose. That franchise has been a dumpster fire since the 1980s Joe Gibbs days though....despite Snyder having the highest payroll in the NFL at times lol ..of course they messed up the name too.

Kleptocrats is a much better name for the team.
Seriously, Commanders is a poor name. It sounds like emperors or czars. It's not endearing except to those who think they rule by working for Uncle Sam.

Not sure what to make of tens of thousands of signatures. How do we know 90% of them aren't white purist fans of the franchise?

I don't think it's a big deal but I also understand the league and the team not wanting to endure completely avoidable controversy. Just make it a cool mascot. Not the Commies. Washington Football Team was better than Commanders.

I agree that the "CiC" is where the name came from...but what is more hated than a president? Every CiC is hated by at least half this nation...so thats what they picked for a mascot???

Most teams pick a formidable animal or warrior type for their mascot...something that is feared or respected. We havent had a president with a real set of balls since Roosevelt. Bunch of lawyers since then..mostly silver spoon "old money" bureaucrats that are about as manly as Miss America. Really stupid name. Wolves or Wolverines would have been much much better. Much more acceptable IMO to the native American folks as well.

I never understood the opposition to the Redskins logo.... I always saw it as a noble, dignified profile. Tanned skin from long days of hard work in the sun, the dignified nose reminded me of pictures of plains Indians in profile with head held high in a proud, defiant manner. I saw nothing insulting about it.

On the other hand cartoonist caricatures of native Americans drive me crazy.... Those are the ones I find insulting.
