Bar-B-Cutie???

No way! Nashville has some pretty good 'Q, but you just have to be willing to look. Try the previously mentioned places in this thread, and you will change your mind. Bar-B-Cutie isn't even in the Top 10 for me.

So smoking everything in a huge smoker makes for subpar bbq?

I've had bbq at about every restaurant you could imagine and there was nothing wrong with their food. Ribs fell off the bone. Seldom go anywhere that screws up smoking pork. It's hard to do, especially if you specialize in it.

It really is hard to mess up bbq to the point of blech. As long as it's legitimately smoked, even if it's bad, it's still relatively good.

it's about the rubs, spices and sauces. Damn my mouth is watering. pulled pork is usually on the money if it's not chewy, and any place can have a chewy batch. Could be different meat, frozen too long, overcooked a tad, undercooked.
If it basically dissolves in my mouth and has a little spice, it's good to go.

I'm just not that huge of a fan. I have eaten at the one in Symrna on several occasions, and it was just average each time.

I don't know if all of them have their own big smokers. I think @ any place with big smokers, outside of the normal kitchen, should have good bbq. That would make a difference in any bbq to me.

Hell, they closed a Schlotzkie's near me and that place was always crowded. Now its a nasty bojangles and their chicken is overrated as hell. Not a damn bit of taste of New Orleans.

There's no good bbq near vandy other than maybe the take out place connected to Springwater behind the McDonald's next to centennial park on west end and they aren't open for dinner. Plenty of so so slop for tourists and Yankees who don't know the difference between good bbq and a ****burger though.

I have not found anywhere in Nashville area that can match west Tennessee BBQ. There is a place in east Nashville near Cleveland Street/McFerrin Street area that some folks have been telling me about that is pretty good.

There isn't anything in Nashville that would place in the Top 20 in the city/area of Memphis. Still, it's not all bad in Nashville.

I'd take midlevel barbeque over having to live in Memphis any day.

Jacks off Trinity is good. There's also a small one in Hendersonville that I remember being good.

Center Point BBQ.

Dickey's is better.

Please tell me you're kidding. Small ribs, little to no smoke flavor, standard nothing special sauces, bland sides. I do better on my smoker not even trying.

It's been awhile since I've ate there, atleast two years. I had heard that it's quality has gone down. Guess it's true.

Rib City fails on epic levels. If I needed a pork enema, I would definitely eat there.

Like I said it has been awhile since I've ate there. It was pretty good when I did eat there though. Won't be eating there again though from the sound of it.
