A book on Jonathan Crompton ??

Geez guys. Have some class about a former Vol. I remember reading about some fans saying some nasty, classless things about Crompton either to or around his mother in the stands. I have 2 highschool athletes and, as a Dad, I can't imagine having that happen.

Besides, the kid kept his nose clean, played hard, and played very well the last 8 or 9 games of his senior year. Heard him on with Ainge a couple months back.... he made it clear he still loves UT .... despite all the crap criticism he took.

I find it interesting that many people think posting something negative about the program will drive recruits away, but find nothing wrong with trashing former Vols who didn't live up to their unrealistic expectations. I guess recruits think that's funny? Hmmm.

I think it's funny when people think only UT fans do either of those things.

You guys seriously need to grow up. Have a little class.

Forget it, VolinWayne. There's a good number of people on this board who wouldn't know class if it jumped on their back and rode them like a horse. The Jerry Springer culture is so firmly entrenched in so many here that even an ATBIP wouldn't be able to blast it out of them.

I've never seen so much consternation over people just stating the obvious that JC struggled for much of his career. Nobody said he was a bad guy or didnt give his all.

That isn't the issue and you know it. The thread may have begun by belittling an over priced book about JC but swiftly became a belittling of JC himself. As for his struggles, he didn't get decent coaching until Kiffin came here. The consternation should be about fans who practically hunt for opportunities to post negative comments about players and former players.

And sometimes, like my first post in this thread, a joke is just a joke.

The revisionist history standard with Crompton makes me chuckle. He tried, and he stuck with the program through some really bad times, but the fact of the matter is that he wasn't a good football player at any time since he left High School.

Not his fault, some people just don't have the right combination of mental and physical tools to succeed at an SEC level.

The game seemingly just never slowed down for him.

Apparently when you're in the room.

Nope. It's when you hear (or read) the same things repeatedly. --Marvin Minsky: Society of Mind--

Such as Jonathan and other players and former players put downs. You missed that one, Edward Nigma.

I tried to buy it twice. The first time I went to put it on the counter and accidentally threw it into the ground and injured a toddler. The second time, I stood in the aisle reading too long and got sacked.

You must have been reading " Matt Simms" (the sequal) when you got sacked

There is also something to be said for the tampon culture you seem to be so fond of.

A few people make some jokes and it turns into a travesty against mankind. Every time. It's annoying. You would have people think we called Cromp a b**** and then hit him in the nuts.

There is something to be said for class, but since the conception of sports, faceless fans have left it at the door. No sense singling out members here over it, or blaming it on our "culture". That's ignorant.
