Teenage girls are right; a single bump (pimple) can destroy a person. Pearl might have survived, had not he had the infamous "bump" while already skating on ice millimeters thick. Apparently, this so infuriated Mike Slive thathe informed Hamilton and the administration at Tennessee to knife Ole Bruce or face NCAA devastation.

What's the point of this thread? Is it that Hamilton needs to get rid of Pearl? Both need to be gone? If so, there are plenty of other threads to accomodate those desires.

The bump isn't why he will lose his job. It just makes the decision easier.

I like Pearl's taste in young hot women.

It has more to do with a tearfull presser where he said he was sorry. He had learned his lesson and would not lie again. A few days later he did.

What does Slime, uhhhh Slive have to do with the NCAA?? Pearl is gone, get over it and let's see what happens. I personally believe MH and BP are gone and we will be better off for it.

Only time will tell......

But the lie (to the NCAA) and trying to cover it up is what got him in this mess to start with. If he does not lie (which is a seconary violation) no of this would be happening.

Lying to NCAA investigators is not a secondary violation.

It is when you visit a recruits school when the recruit cannot be visited and "accidentally" bump into them. Very common, seldom reported, but the issue is it wad immediately after his tearful apology conference. It shows apparent insincerity in the apology and disregard for rules

what was this bump anyway?
Pearl had an illegal contact i.e. "bump" with a recruit, four days after his tearful September press conference which Pearl didn't report. Apparently UT lawyers found out about this from the NCAA itself. This apparently was the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back.

Trust me, whether you like him or not , Mike Slive is powerful enough to have been able to have mitigated the penalties that UT would have got from the NCAA, even while retaining Pearl as coach. Unfortunately, that lifeline was lost with the bump.

Actually, the imposition of the off campus rule was not to start till two weeks later. He could be off campus. And the bump did not occur at the recruits school, but at another high school.

So why is it a big deal? Do most coaches just self report so it isn't looked at? So I guess since Pearl didn't it looks like he is trying to cover up again huh.

Now you've got to the issue of whether there was a legitimate bump and was it reported to the appropriate people.

The bump occurred at Oak Hill in Virginia on Sept 14. Thanks to the likes Nick Saban, the NCAA has declared that bumping will be treated a significant violation.

I heard that the bump was actually in Georgia at another school. But you know how rumors are.
