I thought it would be nice to see how this staff really compares to last year's staff so far in recruiting. I decided to use use our first 2 commits and likely QB this year against last year's first 2 commits (not named Jacques Smith for obvious reasons) and Bray. I will use all 3 scouting services and will add Rivals' ratings when they fully come out.

And before the haters come out on ESPN's ratings, you should realize that UT finished 9th in both the Rivals and ESPN rankings in '10. These 2 services have differences but seem to be on the same page.

The results may be surprising for some.

ESPN
Alan Posey- 4star/79 grade/#14 OT
Christian Harris- 3star/78 grade/ #34 OLB
Justin Worley- 3star/78 grade/#14 PS-QB

Tyler Bray- 4star/81 grade/#4 PS-QB
Jose Jose- 3star/75 grade/#72 OG
Risean Broussard- 0stars/40 grade/NR position

Scout
Alan Posey- 3star/#51 OT
Christian Harris- 3star/#58 OLB
Justin Worley- 3star/#9 PS-QB

Tyler Bray- 3star/#15 PS-QB
Jose Jose- 3star/#14 C
Risean Broussard- 3star/#93 DT

Pssh everyone knows that Dooley is a homeless man's Ron Zook. Stop posting these so called "facts". You're just wasting everyone's time.

I hope Dooley recruits as well as Zook.

I hope Dooley is a much better coach.

Not to mention that Worley is in a much deeper and collectively more talented QB class than Bray.

no comparison between the recruiting efforts of the last staff and this one

Kiffin and Org are elite recruiters

They are elite recruiters, but Dooley is going to build a program that excels and doesn't cut corners to do so! Dooley is trying to build a program that students and players are proud to come back and support year after year! Believe me be, when Dooley starts chalking up wins then there won't be many that can out recruit him, because he'll be able to sell winning, development, tradition, and a place you can always be proud to come back to!

Yeah now there is also no comparison in the character between the 2 either...

Kiffin will rack up top 3 classes yearly at USC

We will bring in top 20 classes imo

Now we will have better "people" on our team..time will tell if that pays off

Pretty funny comparing 2 early commits and a projected QB. Not one bit of it has any bearing on how good a recruiter Dooley is. They cant choose who they want committed right now.

Fun topic I suppose but pretty far fetched.

:clapping: Totally agree,

I think this topic is a little premature. The point of this topic will be more telling once the recruiting services have completed, or nearly completed, their evaluations of players.

I don't think it is fair that people compare Dooley and his staff to Kiffin and Co. The latter has much more experience of the recruiting trail, especially with a guy like Orgeron. Not to mention, their sales pitch to recruits was untouchable by most. I think Dooley will earn respect with time as a recruiter, the same goes for his staff. All of these guys can recruit if you research their backgrounds. Saban said it himself, Dooley can recruit, he is a good coach, and more importantly, he is a good person.

I'm not arguing anything, for or against CDD, but this is simple coachspeak. Why would he say anything otherwise?

Why can't a coach compliment another coach? It happens all the time. Nick Saban obviously thought enough of Coach Dooley to have him on staff at LSU, then the Dolphins. He also tried to get him to come to Alabama with him. If Nick Saban kept Dooley for 7 or however many years he must be pretty dang good. I know you say that is coachspeak but good coaches compliment other good coaches. Mack Brown had high praises for Nick Saban before the BCS championship game. Was he lying too, or using coachspeak?

Posey should be more than a 3 star. Pop in the the tape of him DOMINATING TJ Stripling (UGA). He was whoopin him so bad they put Stripling on the other side after the second half.

Dude, I'm not saying he is lying, but when do you hear coaches get in front of the media and start ripping them? All I'm saying is take it for what it's worth, don't live and die by it.

And I've said it before and I'll say it again, this love affair with Nick Saban is getting a bit too much. I'm sure some of you will rip me and say "Well he's the coach we want ours to be modeled after"...blah blah blah. I don't want that, because that means he'll leave us high and dry in about 3 years. I'm tired of getting on here and most of you have a freaking hard-on for Nick Saban.

We have to be positive as a fanbase guys. I know our schedule next season is tough but anything is possible. That's why they play the game. So instead of being pessimistic or "realistic" like some of you guys say(which I really don't agree with) be optimistic and positive. It has to be depressing being so dang pessimistic. I couldn't stand it. It depresses me just thinking about it when I read some of this stuff. Yes, I know Dooley hasn't done anything to prove to us that he's going to be a good coach here, but he also hasn't done anything to prove that he's going to be a bad coach either. Quite the opposite accually. He has set a good foundation of character, family, and discipline. Also, I know Kiffin was all about discipline but that is the past so lets leave it there. Give the guy a chance please. Sabanocchio posted something earlier that Nick Saban said something about "Being positive is very important for success." If anyone knows anything about success it's Nick Saban. Just try not to be so negative all the time. Sorry for rambling but it just gets old. And as a student I really want our program to do well. We, as a fanbase, are a big part of our success. Lets do our part.
