Man this tweeting is way beyond me. I have no idea what theyre saying. Hate to sound so old...and white!

Its tough to cut through and decipher some of urban speak/text message talk. Just think of it like a 12 year old text messaging..or find one..they can decipher it for you.

Alden Hill‏@RockyTopHILL30

People keep asking how my break was and I laugh because I'm not taking any breaks until I get what I came here for. #VFL #determined

LOVE THE ATTITUDE!!!!! Really thought this kid would be a bruiser for us in the back field!!!!!

Todays tweeting or tweets can be like caveman drawings for some of VN's old heads..:detective:

Sounds like our players are getting focused, motivated and very determined.

bUTch has been making strides with the mental attitudes already and we have to love positive changes showing up so quickly.

VFL...GBO!!!

Stick to your depends diapers and bingo, gramps.

Damn you kids with your rock music and 8 track tapes!

Get off my lawn, you damn kids!

(I'm 58, and I don't tweet either. I'm trying to hang on to the shreds of my dignity, and I can't handle the word "tweet.")

you damn whipper snappers!
with your damn yoyo's and hoola hoops!

you'll be the DEATH OF THIS COUNTRY!

We need a man like Herbert Hoover.

Don't let my wife read this, she'll cut me off.......again

I just don't get twitter at all. The kids seem to like it but I just don't see how it makes one feel better expressing every single thought that goes through their heads.

People who do that don't have a lot of followers, unless they are followed by other people who tweet everything on their mind.

That's what's great about Twitter. You can pick an choose who to follow based on content.

But many of the ignorant people out there think it's only to find out what people had for breakfast. Of course, they thought the internet would never take off either.

I am both old and white. Dullsville... but I am on Twitter because my 17 year old daughter is on Twitter. Gives me some insight to her feelings. Just another tool in my box to help raise her.

Plus, I follow UT beat writers, others for various reasons... It can get interesting...:good!:

Whether we older folks recognize it or not, the definition of "social" in our culture has changed dramatically in the past decade. Technology has given us the ability to connect with others in new ways, and those connections can be as beneficial (or not) as we choose to make them. While social media can't/shouldn't replace face-to-face time, they can add to existing relationships or provide relationships where face-to-face time is impossible or impractical.

As already mentioned, you choose who and how much to interact. If you are following laundry lists and breakfast menus, you have no one to blame but yourself. If you don't know the intent of technology, don't blame the technology. If you don't know how to use technology, don't blame the technology.
