A early review of the Returnees

Nice post. I'll disagree on Bru also. I think his injury was the biggest loss to our team this season, and by far the biggest on offense.

We lost our best (really only) deep threat
Our best perimeter blocking WR
Maybe the most competitive player on offense
After losing him, it seems as if he was the leader of the offensive unit.

Whilst I agree with the comments regarding the importance of Bru McCoy, my only reasoning was that others, although maybe not as good, would be more missed primarily due to less Roster strength at that position.

So far Looking Good

I own a business and was once told that if you want to improve it “you will need to prioritize getting some new clients”. My reply was, “although new clients are important my priority should be to keep the good clients I already have as they are a known commodity and were the foundation of the success of the business. So, using this logic I think the results so far regarding Returnees has been a roaring success.

Here is my list of whom I most wished to return and in order of preference..

Cooper Mays returning – we saw last season the affect he had on the game or when he was not in the game

Keenan Pili returning – this was a huge loss for all of last season bar 30 minutes

John Campbell returning - To get the best out of Nico you first must protect his blind side

Omari Thomas returning – We are perennially have one of the best Run Defenses in the SEC and it all starts with this space eater who regularly draws double teams thus freeing up the pass rushers, say thank you James Pearce.

Javontez Spraggins ? - you don’t run for over 200 yards per game in 2023 without this guy

Bru McCoy ? – a big asset in many ways but he is lower down my list purely because we have others in the WR Unit and with Mike Matthews coming.

Gerald Mincey returning – To get the best out of Nico you must first protect his other side as well

Tyler Baron left – we have a plethora of quality DEs so he shouldn’t be missed too much

Omar Norman Lott ? – probably our best Portal addition last year and it was he who helped Thomas to clog up the middle

Jabari Small ? - sorry if he goes but its Dylan Sampson's turn to carry the rock and we have others in rotation.

Of course the Returnees are only a part of the off-season, as are the incoming Portal signees and the 2024 Class, but the first building block for an exciting 2024 season is firmly in place.

Who do you see being most likely to replace Baron at SDE?

Great question, coach Heupel likes a hybrid. DE//DT so it will probably be Bailey or West but I am a believer of putting your best players on the pitch so I would like to see Pearce AND Joseph’s both at the same time and we then have Herring, Bradley and Ross as all blue chip rotation guys.

I can see Bailey or West but Austin Price reports C Bradley has not worked out to coaches’ expectations and may be flipped to TE

For all the weeping, wailing, gnashing of teeth, and lamentations over NIL ruining coillege football know ye this.

Most of those returning would not be returning were it not for NIL cash being available to them . Now gnash on I say.

We need Bru and Thornton in that we room. Baron isn’t a big loss due to the talent waiting their turn. Getting mincey, mays, and Campbell are back is huge for the offense line. And thrilled to get Omari back. If we get spraggins back along with Bru and Thornton…I’d say we absolutely hit it out of the park regarding holding onto the current roster. Uga has 5 former 5stars in the portal along with another 8 or so former 4srars. We lost Baron and some crappy dbacks. That’s it
Absolutely. We were looking at a total rebuild on the OL with a potential generational QB at the helm next year. Even if our offensive line isn't full of sure-fire NFL players, these guys have produced in the best conference in the country and allow our younger talented lineman another year to mature. Hopefully Spraggins gives us some good news soon. More important to retain these guys than any portal players.

Solid list except Bru needs to be higher. He is a gamer, a beast, and a 'heart and soul of the team' kind of player, and those don't grow on trees.

You need to post more dumb sh*t to get your post count up

Idiot trolls like that live to get any kind of response. What they hate more than anything is to be ignored.

The rule around here should be - Don't Feed The Trolls!
