1. We out-rebounded them by 20+, which makes the fact that we lost by 8 even more pathetic.

2. UK will never, ever shoot free throws that well again. And we were disappointing from free throw line as usual.

3. The refs were a joke, but that's nothing new at Rupp. The opposing team is down 8 before it ever takes the court. My favorite was when the UK player's knee and leg were on the line and the refs didn't call him out of bounds.

4. Barton has hit a major wall. Speaks volumes that the freshman Thompson was in there at the end over the senior. The coaching staff better get Barton fixed quick.

5. This team should be no worse than 13-4 and there is no excuse for this team not to make the NCAA tourney. If CCM can't get it done this year, then he certainly won't be able to next year.

6. Stokes was great. I thought he got abused down low a bunch and the refs ate their whistles. He was an NBA-caliber player today.

7. McRae has got to make more shots for this team to beat good teams. His play, especially in the second half, was disappointing.

8. Thought Moore provided some good energy off the bench. He rebounded and defended well.

9. I don't understand CCM's substitution patterns at all. It would be somewhat nice for the players to be able to get into a rhythm or at least have some expectation of playing time.

10. Got to find a way to beat UF and Arky and we're probably okay. This team is so damn frustrating, but I'm willing to give them until the end of the season before I pass final judgment.

I agree with most of your points.
Bottom line is they made their 3's and ft's and we didn't. Strategy was great (any time you out rebound by +20 must be the case), and the team competed very hard - however the outside shots did not fall against a very talented team playing at home (and refs helped them as well). One criticism may be we allowed the twins to slash and score inside in the second half - but that was the result of them hitting 3's and force our defense to come out and guard them more tightly.

My favorite on the fouls was Cal planting the seed after the non call on Maymon.
Randle runs down the floor and kicks Maymon in the chest going up and they call the foul on Maymon.
That's called 'working the refs 101'.

That's another reason we never get calls. Cuonzo has never worked the refs or come close to doing it properly.

Something CCM knows nothing about.

John Wooden would not be able to work the refs against Calipari in that arena.

And it even annoys me more that Calipari pouts like a little bi**h when his team gets more calls at home than any team in the country (maybe with the exception of Duke).

The schedule blows as we only play once and it had to be at Rupp. We needed a W in the worst way, particularly this year.

2. KY came into the game shooting 66% from FT line. Of course they couldn't miss against us

4. Barton is very inconsistent. We really miss Trae Golden. Especially on offense, however, Barton's defense isn't as great as I expected based on the hype.

5. If CCM doesn't get to NCAA tourney this year, he shouldn't get another chance.

6. Stokes played great today because NBA scouts were watching. He doesn't bring it like that every night which is very frustrating

7. McRae forced way too many shots today. Still our best player but didn't get it done today. Also missed key FT's

8. And 9. Moore hasn't played in weeks and gets a lot of minutes today. Been wondering where he has been. Must be frustrating to be a player under CCM

10. Don't see us winning in Gainesville. Ark game is another must win. Going to be hearing that a lot.

CCM substitution rotation must be frustrating to his players. I know you need to be ready when your number is called, but to go several games without playing and then be thrown into a must win game is a formula for failure. Moore was lost on defense several times in the second half, one time in particular led to a key wide open three.
The lack of a bench rotation is a major flaw in CCM coaching philosophy. It destroys player's confidence and has left this team with no bench contribution.

He should have settled on this a long time ago. The fact that he's still fiddling with it is proof that he's in over his head.

Exactly, the Pre-conference is the time to establish your rotation.

They need to get this over with by the end of the season at the latest. With the SEC Network cranking up they will have increased revenues coming in so the buyout shouldn't be a problem. Zo is in over his head. The most glaring is the substitution patterns and lack of adjustments, especially at halftime. Add in the lack of respect from the officials. Now the players are losing their confidence. This is a full court, transition style roster. They are rhythm shooters, even the bigs. The cannot post up effectively because they are not tall enough. Zo doesn't know how to coach transition style, so he always reverts and substitutes back to the way he knows.

Stokes proved he belongs in the NBA today.

Exactly. That was such an obvious makeup call I thought I was watching a jr high game.

I thought our gameplan to start the game yesterday was good, there was just no in game adjustments made to it. IDK what happend to the offense, we stopped running the floor, we went away from Stokes while he was killing it. Barton and Richardson didnt show up when we needed them. Sub pattern was strange i assume we went with Pops for his size, Moore was out of no where but he played pretty well. There were some positive and negative take aways from the game i thought.

There was no adjustment because there was no coach. The time has come to recognize that Martin is not the answer. He has the passion of a cashew nut and cannot move players up/forward.

Yeah, that 3 foul difference really ruined the game.

Open your eyes. I agree, the refs were on UK's side a little bit. But they're were plenty of missed calls both ways.

And yes, Cal does a great job of working the refs. Most of the best coaches do it really well.

We can have this discussion all day long, but it is pointless. I didn't watch the game because I knew I couldn't watch the calls. Kind of sad because I will watch any other game. You will always disagree, but the home calls are just incredible there. So, lets move on.

U didnt watch the game bc of calls.....good grief....it was actually a decent called game from my perspective.

Been watching games at Rupp for years, and it isn't fun for me. If I truly wanted to I could have, but I had family obligations. Watching a game at Rupp as an opposing fan is painful. JMO.

Or maybe different players match up better against different teams or different styles of basketball? If you want a player whose a hard-nosed rebounded and hustler then you put in Moore. If you want someone who has a bit of an offensive spark, you throw in Edwards. I don't think Cuonzo or his staff are in over their heads, I think we as Volnationers are in over our heads to think we know what goes behind closed doors. I think coaches who have all played in college and some in the NBA know more about whose ready to play than some internet bloggers. IMO.

I'm confused.....so all coaches are equal then?
