Scotty Hopson lives up to his potential. Right now, we are a top-20 team that just doesn't have a consistent enough scorer to make a Final Four in my opinion. Yet if Scotty can become a leader on this team, play defense no matter what is going on during the game, and show that he can be the scorer the Vols need, we have a good chance to make a FF run.

Im staying positive, hopefully it will start clicking for Scotty Hop before November. He has to realize he is a better ball player than most of the country and believe it with all he's got. Then he will be nearly unstoppable

Im very optimistic this year for the Vols. IMO Pearl did a great job with his recruiting class(It looks like Tobias can score too), and the addition of John Fields gives us good depth at center. I think it is possible to go to the final four, and hopefully Scotty does live up to expectations.

I don't think this team will be as good as the last one, IMO.....the last one, with fair ref's might have won the whole thing, or at least got to the final 4.......this team is going to be weaker on defense.......i hope I"m wrong......

I think the only thing this team will be lacking is that leadership role. Losing Wayne, JP and Bobby is a tougher hit on leadership than it is on talent. Talent wise we are elite, we need somebody to step up the way the seniors last year did, especially the way Wayne led the team.

Not at the PG position. Will miss JP, and Wayne was a good defender, but I don't think will be THAT much weaker.

maybe 2012. this season i feel will be a get to know each other season. scotty has to be a leader, melvin has to really improve, tobias has to live up to expectations, free throw shooting has to really improve for everyone. just a lot to ask. be patient it's coming !!!!

Indications are we'll be a solid team. Wouldn't bet on more than that. Better to be pleasantly surprised than disappointed. Not a knock on anyone in particular, but our freshmen are, well, freshmen and completely unpredictable (e.g., the once upon a time one and done Hopson), and it would be hard to make the case our senior leadership is as strong as last season.

I'm happy with the direction of the program and content to enjoy the ride...

......Pat Summitt's recruits pan out and she works her magic, yet again. That's the only FF that will ever be in Knoxpatch.

i'm a women's fan, but as long as uconn keeps the stars coming and gino is there, i'm afraid the lady vols will never see another title. sorry, but that's just the way it is.

I agree completely. You have a 10 point game (or less), either team leading with seven minutes to play, and leadership is the most important key to victory. Leadership is sometimes hard to predict, but I think that will be our most important factor this year.

That is not to even mention the leadership off the court.

Is that real?

Obviously there are worse places for a college student to be at 2 am. But it strikes me as weird to be in the gym then, and I'm a night owl.

It's the most normal freshman collegiate athlete behavior I've ever heard of.
