I'm sure glad we have one... Butch says what he means and means what he says. This other guy (Franklin) is so full of it though, he skirts around questions and downplays things that clearly mean a lot to him..

Asking about competing against UT for recruits in the area (aka losing out on Hurd, Vic, Gaulden, Barnett, and so on), you can tell it bothers him because he downplays it and mentions competing against Stanford and Northwestern.

Then a mention of how big the UT game is, if Vanderbilt wants to grow as a program.. he downplays it again... When in reality, you know he knows that the only way he can grow their fanbase is to start turning the tide against UT.

Just listen to the guy, and it's easy to see that he feeds the media so much BS. Thank God we have a real coach.

Meh. He's as humble as a two foot stinker. He knows that his team is going to get boot stomped so his mouth ain't cashing any checks.

Just bothers me that you can easily tell he's full of sht with every single word he speaks. And I'm not just saying this cuz he coaches Vandy, I honestly just he's the biggest punk in college fb, up there with Kiffin, but Kiffin didn't have people snowed like this guy does.

I put it up here so you guys can hear some of the opponent's perception of their next upcoming foe, which is US. But listening to it, I can't help but notice the sheer amount of b.s and backhanded compliments he spits out there. None of which is genuine..

Honestly didn't find a thing wrong with that.

He mentioned Tennessee in a good way and didn't use he's smart remarks. I may of gained a needles width of respect for him.

How do you know butch means what he says? just curious.. Franklin is a hell of a coach like it or not he takes a lot less and does more than anyone in the SEC with it! If the staff we have can not motivate our players and come up with a scheme to beat Vandy this game we may have the wrong staff!

After reading some of your posts, I have noticed some striking similarities with your posts and another "visitor" we have here at this time. Could mean nothing, but it's interesting just the same.

OP,

I've just listened to the 1st 12 minutes of this and you're just looking for things.

Typical coach speak. He talk about respect for Jones and staff. He said it wasn't a rivaly, yet. Vandy will need a few more wins.

He said there will be 102K there and 101K cheering against Vandy.

post-game, Butch will tell players in locker room "One thing Tennessee always does is beat the poop out of Vandy....and this time it's for real"

Butch says what he means and means what he says.

Butch really meant it when he said he was bringing in the best  bearcat staff in the country - Jancek D has been especially entertaining to watch over the last 3 weeks :banghead2:

All coaches admonish the truth a little. I listened carefully to CBJ's press conference and he was covering his a#* when he said that not getting a bowl game is not a real measure of success.

Exactly. Why fish for things to dislike him? He's had a heck of a year.

He was respectful of UT and if we beat him on the field every year he'll have to stay that way.

I have no love for Vandy or Franklin (I cringe just watching him) but by definition he is a "real coach." Anyone who can put this school on the map in college football is a sucess......I don't want him, I believe in Butch, I'm glad Butch is here, etc. but I'm sure Vanderbilt is glad they hired Franklin.

He sounds like every fill in the blank HC to me.
Butch Jones has his own way of playing the game.
