A great review from an outsider!

I don't remember when, but I saw that quote as well. Basically sounds like he thinks they're already in.

Not how I take it, and articles from today have the players and coaches saying there's work to be done.

This today from Martin: "For us it's one game at a time," said the Vols' third-year coach Cuonzo Martin, "and that's the only thing you can control."

Yeah. He said we were in. Then we drop 2 in a row after beating a lowly SC team and he's changed his tune. There's no sense of urgency.

Where did he say we were in? I still haven't seen that quote?

I provided quotes from today, they're well aware they need to win games.

@Ben_Fred: "I thought it would be 6, but it's 5 right now." - Cuonzo Martin on how many #SEC teams seemed headed for the NCAA Tourney right now.

@Ben_Fred: Martin feels the #Vols are one of those five in, of course.

^^^At this point we were climbing our way back up. We even received votes in AP top 25. Then we lost two in a row.

Reminiscent of last year when we finished the season on a run, CCM says "the work is done" and "we are in" before getting beat by a lowsy bama team and ending up in the NIT.

I don't take those quotes, if you notice the 2nd isn't a quote from Martin either, as saying "the work is done".

I read it, when combined with today's quotes, that he feels they're in a pretty good position as far as making the tourney goes. That doesn't mean he thinks their work is done, they've said they need to keep winning.

He should've had that attitude on 2/3/14

Ok.

People are gonna read things the way they want, one of the tweets isn't even a Martin quote.

I don't think he thinks their work is done, like he said last year. If he says that I will be the first one to bash him.

he thinks we are in the tournament. just dumb. If you say anything, say you need to win each game to assure you get in. Tell your team it's playoff time. Do something for goodness sakes besides tell media you think we are in.

I've long said that Richardson is our most complete player, so I would agree somewhat. I wouldn't call him our best player, but he has the fewest holes in his game.

As for us being lazy ballhogs, I wouldn't say that. McRae and Stokes are who you want to shoot (if he's referring to them). Maymon struggled mightily on offense, and 8 TOs might look selfish. I thought we hustled defensively, especially in the 1-3-1 zone. Not sure where he got that sense. JRich's missed dunk at a crucial point maybe?

If we can even get a few people to admit JRich is our best than that pretty much blows the Pearl regime out of the water and proves he left UT nothing to work with. Sure, McRae came alive....during Cuonzo time. Sure Stokes came alive.....during Cuonzo time. Maymon? Injuries have left him half the player he was. Cuonzo basically had to start from square one and start building. Takes longer that way. lol!!!

How is this a great review? Can't be lazy and offensive rebound like we do.

Me and my best friend were watching the game last night...and he knows how much of a diehard fan I am of UT. I always would try and defend them and say we are really a good team, just underachieving...Cuonzo Martin sucks...on paper we are a top 25 team...blah blah blah. Last night he flat out says "YOU WANNA KNOW WHY YOUR TEAM SUCKS?....ITS BECAUSE THEY ARE LAZY BALLHOGS TRYING TO MAKE ESPN HIGHLIGHTS. THEY ARE FLAT OUT LAZY!"

I never really thought about it like that guys. Is this team lazy? He also thinks J Richarson is our best all-around player lol Do you agree with that? It was just good to hear it from an outsider who doesn't give a flying crap about UT.

Thoughts?

No
