A little perspective after the Bama loss

That’s kinda what I was afraid of after the surprisingly fast turn around for this program last season. It would then become the baseline/expectation in 2024 while we continue to build it all back up.

Truthfully we are a SR loaded team but QB and WR play has killed us. Also poor secondary play at times and bad tackling hasn't helped.

People are going to be real upset when next year happens. What worries me the most about this staff is development of non-Pruitt players, because they're almost all gone next year.
I'm expecting another struggle season with Nico and a different OL + lots of guys on defense likely skipping their covid year.

Exactly. This is not a knock on Heup but we’re playing with the prior staff’s players for the most part. Hopefully the current freshmen will contribute next year and Heup can recruit ata high level while hitting the portal.

If it’s true Nico isn’t ready, do we take a portal QB?

Great post. Some of these fans are ridiculous. Meaning "so stupid they should be ridiculed" (mocked, made fun of)

Apparently you're supposed to skip those things and go straight to playoff contender.

These NegaVols can suck balls. I am gonna ride with CJH. Next season and especially 25 season when we are in the playoffs and on the hunt....these same clowns will act like they were always behind Coach and the VOLS are unbeatable. Negas are like moody women, governed by emotion rather than intellect. Some of them are even worse...always negative...they are the "Legions of the Miserable" that Coach Majors spoke about.

Proud of my Team and coaches.
GO VOLS

Most should understand next year could be a struggle. That’s why losses like FL and Bama really hurt this year. We likely played the worst Fl and Bama we could see for a good while. We lost both. This year was our chance given our talent. It’s gonna fall off a bit more next season.

Yep, Joe has missed a bunch of gimmes, and the Wr's have dropped a bunch of gimmes. What IS This? A football? A Receiver is supposed to Catch the damn ball. Otherwise why is he on scholarship? OR being paid? Oh how I miss Hyatt. Caught everything.

I am not discouraged at all. I predicted 9-3 at beginning of the year and I
still see that happening.

However, all you that are crying about the Bama loss, be ready for another one against Dawgs.
We just aren't at their recruiting (or coaching) level
Need to move on from Martinez and decide on the OC potential.

We really need Nico to add 20 lbs and re-evaluate our receiving group.

I believe many were bought into the "wide-receiver U" myth. We are a long ways from that.
We have nothing close to Jalin and Cedric in the room (better hope Bru comes back, for Nico's sake).

I’m not discouraged at all, I’m pissed. We had Alabama on the ropes at their house. We had some self inflicted mistakes that turned it back into a rock fight. The officials had no interest in chancing us winning another rock fight so they step in and ensure a Bama victory. If you go back and look at what happened to the last two teams that dared to beat Alabama in back to back years, it may be just as well that we lost. We just got the NCAA out of our drawers. We win and maybe they come back for an encore. I ain’t sayin’, I’m just sayin’.

The question is…is Tennessee the team we saw in the first half of the Alabama game or the team we saw in the second half of the Alabama game.
Both. We have yet to put together 60 minutes this year. Hopefully our players and coaches are learning from each game.

that's the reason many of us fans on here are wanting to see Nico play some this year regardless of the score, outcome etc. We're shooting for a bowl anyway, why not look to next year, mix up Nico playing to relief JM. Seems like a win win to me

It will be disappointing if he doesn’t get reps vs UConn.
