Just for kicks I've put together a little depth chart for next year's offense and wanted to get everybody's thoughts on how we'll look next year...of course this may change some depending on some of the quality recruits we get. On that note...I've compiled a list of our offensive recruits/commits from ESPN.com, Rivals.com, and Scout.com that I'll post in the next day or so in the 'Recruiting' Forum...just thought I'd mention that in case some of you want to check that out. Daniel Lincoln will be a RS Freshman. Also, I think Hardesty will be the No. 2 tailback next season. Foster just hasn't looked good all season... healthy or not.

I would have to agree with you. I hope our line gets better, and we establish a running game.

That is if Smith and Meachem return. I, personally, think that Hardesty would be better suited at FB than Foster.

My bad, I may put Hancock above Briscoe. Rogers may be moved to safety as well. Watch for a possible move to OL from Dan Williams.

They won't move Brown to FB. They will keep him where he is at and let him be a TE/HB. They may do the same with Cooper.

Colquitt may hold down all the kicking duties next year, but Lincoln and Cunningham will get a shot.

I think Bo will be #3 QB. I agree that Brown will be in the backfield but as the H-Back. McClendon will start. Meach may be back but odds against Smith which opens spot for Vinson.

I can tell you what, rickbol, if the projected starters on the OL you have actually do it (which I agree with you that they will), then that means we're solid at starters and have a TON of experience in the 2 deep.

How can you possibly say that we're solid on the OL next year considering the OL's performance this year?

Nick Stephens is fifth string QB? I don't expect a true freshman BJ Coleman to be ahead of him.

Well, you understand the word progression. It happens.

Also, if some non-starters from 2006 jump into starting positions in 2007, they either A) played well or B) were already better, and CPF didn't make some good personnel decisions.

Sure. However, all the other SEC teams that manhandled our offensive line this season will also have player progression over the offseason. It seems like many UT fans think that only the skills and talent of UT players progress over the offseason, and the players of other programs in the conference remain static. In reality, the recent track record of the coaching staffs in the SEC would indicate that, if anything, that situation is reversed. Our talent and skills remain static while players from other teams improve.

Well, no, not really. Our DL didn't progress because of losses to graduation. So, not ALL the schools will progress on the defensive lines. Florida will not, LSU will not, Georgia will not.

Is this because all of players on their defensive lines are graduating this year, or simply because you feel that since their defensive linemen are already good, they can't get better?

Jason Hall and Parys Haralson progressed into beasts. The same could happen with the defensive ends we have now. Hopefully we'll bring in some new talent at DT, or someone will have a second growth spurt or something.

I left Chase Nelson off my depth chart because I dont know what position he wil end up at. If he is at DE he wil likely be in the rotation towards the top of the depth chart. But, there is a big possibility we put weight on him and move him to DT.

Vol423, our OL will be much improved next year because the players that are going to be starting next year are talented. This year the talented players were too young. They will play at there talent level as they get more experience. If our young OL were already reaching their talent level then you would have a point. But, the young guys are much more talented than what we had out there this season. Players like Frogg and Ligon are probably maxed out how well they can play. But McNeil, McClendon, Scott, Parker, Young, and Foster all have room to improve and reach their potential.

What I listed is what the depth chart at QB will read. Coleman will be ahead of Stephens. If its mop-up duty and it somehow managed to get to putting in the #4 QB then Stephens would go in because they would not be stupid and waste Coleman's redshirt. But, if it came down to some crazy freakish incident where #1-3 on the depth chart got hurt and we were putting a QB on the field to win a game then it will be Colemand and not Stephens. So unless something crazy happens Coleman will be able to redshirt next season.
