Well, 8 of those are excusable including:
3 Medical (Jack Jones, Andrew Butcher and Mighty Joe Young)
4 Declared early/JUCOs: Kamara, McKenzie, Kelly, Justin Martin
1 Fluke: Zach Stewart, family issues
The rest were either passed over or frustrated with CBJ/UT
The ones that hurt the most were Bouleware, Picou, Griffen and Townsend
I believe that bUTch had pressure to show results on the recruiting field. So, he took a chance on players who needed to be developed or players who had questionable academic issues coming from high school or had behavior issues that he overlooked, so he could get a top 10 class signed.
I really wish we could have kept Preston Williams.
Shrapnel from the Lyle Jones era. Many forget the week before the Jalen Hurd saga Preston quit. I think it was the same week of Big Dan's last game, Texas A&M. Little did we know how much of a cluster**** the program really was with Sgt Carter. Tbh, I never truly bought in to Sgt Carter after he blew some early games in his career.
This has been brought up before but it is interesting how many 3-stars was in this class. It was ranked really high in part due to overall numbers.
The ou game was a build up... I was upset we lost, but the way we lost, I took it as a fluke. Until the 2015 fla lost, that was yhe most upset I've ever been about a ut outcome. I was literally pissed and moody for a week and I screamed out loud I was done with butch. Throughout the 2015 season I thought I overreacted, but looking back I didnt. It was something about butch that didnt feel right.
Eventhough we lost some games we should have won in 2015, I actually feel it was the one bright year. The team literally looked ready to break out and really could've gone undefeated with a few breaks. It looked physically ready. Then 2016 happened. Though the overall record was the same it was clear we were getting whipped at the lines and the game plans and adjustments were puzzling. The 2nd half versus Florida was the best play all year.
