Elston Turner. He is the current lead assistant for Rick Adelman with the Rockets. He also worked with Adelman 6 years with the Kings, the last two of which he was the lead assistant there as well. The curious thing about him is that he was born and raised in Knoxville. Just tossing that out there for discussion; hopefully, it won't be necessary to look at him as a replacement, but it's just food for thought.

DO NOT WANT A COACH WITHOUT LOTS OF HEAD COACHING EXPERIENCE!!!! DO NOT WANT A COACH WITHOUT A PROVEN RECRUITING RECORD!!!! Other than that, he would be GREAT.

Once we are on two years of scholarship reductions and no post season play and Pearl is suspended by the NCAA, then U.T. will fire Pearl, who will want to coach us with that mess looming over our program?
It is quiet easy to figure out what is happening. (1) Hamilton does NOT support Pearl.
If Hamilton fired Pearl when Pearl was under contract, then Pearl would get money for being fired. Hamlton is waiting until the NCAA announces the punishments and then Pearl will be fired for "Just Cause" then U.T. won't owe him any money.
The NCAA MUST MUST come down hard on Pearl!!! The other 119 college coaches are watching to see what the standard is if a coach lies to the NCAA.
On a scale of 1 to 10, I predict that the NCAA will do a 9 1/2 to U.T. (1) Pearl suspended for a year (2) We lose one scholarship for 2012 & 2013 recruiting season (3)
No Post season play for 2012 or 2113 (4) No t.v. for 2012...
No coach will want to coach U.T. when we have those sanctions. Once we are off of the sanction, we will need to hire one helluva coach to re-build the program and that will take several years.
I expect this to be our last post-season play for 7 or 8 years. Enjoy this season because it will be 2020 before we enjoy any tournament success again.
If anyone feels that the NCAA will accept these 8 SEC game suspensions, salary reduction and recruiting restrictions as the punishment for lying to the NCAA, you are fooling yourself.

Remind what Pearl's proven recruiting record was when he was hired.

Remind what Pearl's proven recruiting record was when he was hired.

D2 National Titles and a mid-major team to the Sweet 16 says that he could either coach outta the world, recruit well and coach well, or just recruit only. I've not done my homework, but great coaches are made by great players. Pearl was no exception b4 coming.

Who do you think would have an easier time recruiting, An NBA assistant coach, or a mid-major guy?

They won't take us off of TV because it's a punishment to the other teams we'd play other than that the other parts of the punishment is possible. No one gets the TV ban anymore. USC would have gotten it this year if they still gave it out.

Seriously. It's like saying, "If the Wolverines had won the Rose Bowl this year, Michigan fans would have given Rich Rod another shot."

That's why Pearl has to be fired before the sanctions are announced.

If I am right( and I am not positive that I am), the issue isn't just the lie to NCAA but obstructing the investigation by asking recruits and/or parents to lie. That is an issue I never hear discussed so I was wondering if I am recalling that part correctly. As for replacements,it is premature to discuss but my top 2 since 2005 have been Mike Anderson or Gregg Marshall. Actually, I think Marshall was a candidate before Buzz wasn't he? We won't get another Pearl in terms of PR and all that, but I think Anderson is the closest thing to Pearl in many ways. Maybe I'm wrong. I just wish none of this happened, miserable season

This isn't even close to what SMU did, unless Bredesen is chairing meetings to handle player payments.
