What were the negative consequences for the financiers whose reckless gambles played a pivotal role in the financial crisis? Effectively none. In fact, their average bonuses went up in the year of the bailouts, dipped a bit in 2010, and are projected to go up at a very fast clip for this year.

Meanwhile, people can't find work, have lost their jobs, and are facing loss of the safety net provided for by programs like SS and Medicare.

How can this be so? Easy. The bank and corporate execs own the politicians. Of both parties.

This is the main issue driving the protests.

This statement proves the protesters are idiots. Think about it.

'I am gonna protest and help force change'

contradicts

'The government is in the pockets of the corporations and it never listens to normal people.'

Pick one. Either the government will listen and their basic premise is wrong, or the government will only listen to money and they are utterly wasting their time.

That's what the protests are about. The government again coming to the aid of the banks or big business and at the cost to the consumers who might well have a legitimate claim.

Weird becuase I just watched a Chicago Occupy rally march that had a whole slew of Communists wearing red and holding red flags telling the camera man this is what the rally is all about.

As with the TP, you can find latcher-ons who try to coopt the movement for their own message.

The vast, vast majority of the protestors think capitalism works -- they just think that the market is not "true" anymore because the lawmakers and regulators are paid off by special business interests who have so warped the markets that they have moved beyond inefficient to basically corrupt.

Maybe true. The one group I have personally encountered invited all to protest with them. They did have a list of people that were not welcomed, that included members of a corps. That knocked me out.

Did that list also include people that pay taxes?

Why would the Corps march with the Occupy rallies? That makes no sense.

as people get excluded that 99% number seems to shrink doesn't it?

these people have no clue what they're against or who is responsible.

I get what you are saying but this is just one more example of media biased.

With the Tea Party you had a couple of nuts with stupid signs and suddenly the whole movement was racists.

With Occupy you have a lot of of idiot extremists people marching, chanting, and protesting and the media doesn't even bring it up. It apparently isn't even a problem. I guess that's because all of the left wingers are closet Communists anyways.

Agreed. Every photo and video I've seen the people have pretty much come across as idiot hobos that probably can't hold down a minimum wage job without getting fired.

advocating violence and anti-semitic slogans are also completely ignored by the MSM.

Don't think I've ever seen someone contradict themselves so much, so fast, as you did right here.

I only have time for protestors when they know what they are talking about. This is why Vietnam still makes me so angry - baby boomers were the first generation spoiled enough to treat soldiers like sub-humans.
