A Program With No Future

Pearl would have had a rough time of it himself this year. With Hopson and Harris leaving, this team is going to struggle no matter who the coach is. Martin is in a tough spot for sure, but maybe he can make a team out of this mess.

Both of them would not have left if Pearl stayed in the first place... Maybe Hopson would have just because he thought he really was NBA material

B-Ball is second fiddle, (I give you 100,000 fans on Saturday on campus that say so...) Pearl brought electricity...would hate to be in Coach Martins shoes...it will take a little time to see how things work out...2 more recruiting classes will tell us alot about our future

Please explain this further. Pearl got a job in Knoxville?

The Mavericks offered Pearl $1.7 million over three years to coach their D-League affiliate, the Texas Legends. He has declined that offer.

He has been hired as the Executive Vice President of Marketing at HT Hackney in Knoxville and will serve as a volunteer basketball coach at a local high school until his show-cause is up in August of 2014.

He didn't say this team would beat Pearl's first team. He said Martin has more to work with than Pearl did when he arrived. I agree 100%.

I think you're wrong. Most talent evaluators would probably agree with me 100%.

Speculation. We have no way of ever knowing this. And the three year show-cause really makes the point moot.

No way. I think Pearls first year team would eat this years team IMO. They have the potential but it's almost impossible to see how these guys buy into his system. I've been waiting for Cam Tatum to explode since he's set foot on campus and haven't seen it yet. Hall and McRae hav the potential to really turn a lot of heads this year.
Pearls first year team was mostly another coaches players and this team is mostly Pearls mess. Even the players that signed with this class can be considered a direct result of Bruce Pearls recruiting or lack skill thereof. SO what point are you trying to make?

This season would have been rough no matter what even if we hadn't had the investigation unless he had a monster signing class this roster would have been behind the ball. Thinking the deluded martian Hopson would still be here is a stretch. Harris maybe we keep and that's a good strong piece. But look at his signing class.. he had pretty much what we have now.

Given his recruiting track record he does not bring in a legit point and does not bring in a legit post so we are pretty much in the same position we are in now except people would have to put the blame where it belongs. Pearl will make a great commentator but I do not think he will or would have ever been able to take this program much further on the court. He peaked on the court 2 years ago. His lack of player development skills is so obvious it is not surprising most fans can't see it. But I can bet you this if CCM was instead Coach Bubba Bingerson from Tupelo with the same track record and the same moves there would be less outrage.

Harris left because this draft class sucked and he knew he'd be a first round lock, not because Pearl was fired.
