A question for the historians

One thing I do not want people to start doing, is bashing her. Its just hearsay so far.

Whether she transfers or not, I don't like DDs attitude and never have. Yes, she has mad talent but I have never seen anybody look so miserable on the court, winning or losing

I LOVE Diamond and have the ultimate respect for her. She is a gracious human being who is respected by everyone that has spent extended time with her. Lady Vol fans should be grateful for her being a representative for the program.

God forbid her character not fit exactly into how some of you want these young women to portray themselves 24/7. And then when you don't care for it you basically say good riddance at the notion that they might not be around any longer than expected.

I have heard nothing of this rumor and would be shocked if it were the case.

Here's my view on the rumor. DD's motivation to stay was to bring Tennessee back to the top, to rescue the program, and to go #1 in the WNBA draft.

Given how things have been going lately at Tennessee, and the likely strong competition within the SEC, plus the potential OOC strength for the NCAA tourney, the likeliness of achieving her goals has been diminished.

It appears that A'ja Wilson has a lock on going #1 in the WNBA draft. DD may not even be the second pick. Perhaps her view of how the newcomers look in practice isn't to her liking. She may feel a year of international experience will enhance her stature for the following year's WNBA draft. Money isn't the motivator, her reputation is.

Well said. It's a shame some people who post here are like that. Some mischievous people start rumors then others pile on believing it to be fact and it ultimately turns into a bash fest. Sad.

Because people wish her the best and say they want players who want to be here, that's considered a bash fest?

I get what you said and agree to a certain extent but she knew Wilson pretty much had the number one pick on lock, she also knew the freshman were coming and as a student of the game had opportunity to view footage of the freshman (there are a lot of game tape on them) to form her opinion way before then.

It will come as ironic (and I am not buying into the rumor) if she does leave after cooper (one of her best friends) and jolette law (the coach who helped turned her around a couple of seasons ago after taking her to dinner) left the program.

Im also sure that it isn't too late for her to grad transfer somewhere also as an option and be that piece that helps take another team over the hump and possibly change the mind of the GM's who would have the #1 pick

Diamond is not on campus yet so she hasn't been there for practice.

I just don't see this happening. DD has too much pride to be called a quitter. Especially, after the long dissertation/presentation she posted on her IG talking about her return. I expect her to be back. IMHO

When did she delete it? Recently or are you just now noticing she deleted? She made some errors in that post, so I can understand why she wouldn't want to keep it forever.

It stayed up a long time after she posted it...however, she did make some errors in it, specifically referring to Vic Schaefer as Gary Blair. It could be she deleted it because of that, it could be she deleted it because she's leaving, or it could be she deleted it to get people speculating. I guess time will tell....

Right!

What benefit does she have by leaving now? The ladyvol fan base would disown her the second she leaves. I don't think she would want that kind of weight on her.

Since HoopDR abd DeerPark12 seem to be our most reliable sources, please give us the inside on DD. Is this just a rumor or real deal?

Agree with most of your post, but my question is: What does this say about DD's reputation?

Especially after posting that 4 page insight to the world about her basketball goals, now to bail on them for what possible reason...?

I don't think TC & Law leaving should have that impact. She and TC weren't as close as they once were. And Law's dinner pep talk got us two fewer losses and a worse NCAAT performance the next year. Not sure Law was her Yoda.

I was not thinking of you when I wrote it.

I knew you weren't thinking of mlindsay when you wrote it, Rickster.

Mlindsay and I view this situation the same. If DD wants to leave, "Peace out!"

I think you probably do too, Rickster.

On paper, I would still say we have the most talented team in the SEC as well as top ten talent. We should most definitely be competing for a SEC title especially after SC lost Gray and Davis.

Yes, if she or anyone else wants to leave, let em go. Ultimately, those that do not want to be lady Vols need to move on to give developmental time to those that do. I am not convinced that this is the case however until I hear it from her. Way too many rumors started by people who heard it from someone else who dreamed it two nights ago after feeding the dog and cat. It may be true but I'll wait to hear it from a credible source.

Agree - no need to get torn up. Time will tell...
