A shout out to Cierra

if you think Cierra has suffered, how do you think Meighan Simmons felt at all the haters? They should be ashamed, imho

Meghan Simmons was many times an offensive disaster. It wasn't that she couldn't shoot but she was usually out of control and the offense stalled when she would go on her "one on one" rampages because no one on the team knew what she was going to do-usually because she never passed.

P.S.-I would love to see Cierra try a few catch and shoot from beyond the three. I bet she would be pretty effective from out there.

You must not be watching the same player as I am. We're talking Cierra Burdick of the Lady Vols. She doesn't make a lot of plays off the dribble. She is best at catch and shoot-i.e. no dribbling. When she dribbles disaster usually happens. She is an excellent rebounder and defender too. Now, she is playing to all her strengths and minimizing the "off of the dribble."

Fair enough, If you could, please tell me who is the player the LVs apparently had wearing Burdick's number last night. For example, see the first play in this highlight reel. I sure hope the LVs don't get sanctioned for having imposter players on the court.:)

Off the dribble is when you take the ball out at the top of the key or away from the basket and drive in and score. It is when your ability to dribble gives you a distinct advantage and your dribbling puts your opponent at a disadvantage and you can consistently score using your dribble. That is a Jordan Reynolds or somebody like that. We actually have very few players who are good "off the dribble." And, that is not Cierra Burdick. When Cierra tries "off the dribble" she usually misses the shot or turns it over. Her prowess of late is because she has stopped doing that and first she positions herself and then catches and shoots and doesn't dribble. That is what she is best at.

Burdick has to make her mid-range jumpers for us to be good. Has to. She's got a good shot and she has to make them. We need scoring from people other than Izzy, partly because all good teams have a few scorers and not just one, and because Izzy is going to have trouble scoring against good teams who will double her or put big bodies on her. So Burdick, Massengale, Carter have to become consistent scorers.

I liked that Thursday night Izzys first 2shots were from 10 and 18 ft.

I get what you are saying and I agree with you that Cierra is best when she does not try to do too much with the ball. She is a good catch and shoot player for sure but she can create space for her jump shot, make passes off the dribble, effectively bring the ball up the court under pressure.

But, no doubt, Cierra can't (or shouldn't) try so-called dribble drive penetration like Reynolds or Carter for sure.
