1. Convince Tyler Smith to overlook his own best interests and return to school.
2. Convince Wayne Chism to act in his own best interest and return to school.
3. Dismiss Josh Tabb. If a guy cares so little that he'll do something that merits being suspended for half of an NCAA Tournament, he doesn't care enough to merit a scholarship.
4. Shake up a stale, satisfied staff. Firing Jason Shay and hiring Rick Brunson sounds about right.
5. Don't waste a scholarship on Rico Pickett if you are confident in the eligibility of Daniel West. If guy who washed out at a conference rival is the answer, you need to rethink the question.
6. Steal some offensive ideas from the NBA. You have personnel that would benefit from some pro isolation sets.
7. Make it clear that guys who work in the weightroom will play. If work=minutes, you'll get more guys paying the price.
8. "Suggest" some better coaches to the sponsors of the Rocky Top League. Sales managers whose only qualifications are season tickets and having purchased the ESPN Full Court Package need not apply.
9. Fill out your nonconference schedule with teams who fit the Oklahoma State profile. Force your team to improve its perimeter defense or take some losses.
10. Scour the nation for an enforcer. The lack of toughness exhibited by this year's team should be evidence of the need for such a player.

Can't disagree with much there.

Hat, who would you try to get specifically on the non-conf. schedule. I know we have USC coming in 09-10, but what are some other teams that you would try and put on the schedule?

Seton Hall and Villanova will both be returning guys who would provide the kind of challenge I think the perimieter defense needs. Cornell or St. Louis might be good options to get a look at a patient, halfcourt oriented opponent.

Who else we playing out of conference. USC, Kansas, Memphis. Still playing the Zags and Temple?

11. Fix the free throw epidemic that plagues our team.
12. Explain to the team that 3 point shooters like Reddick and Lofton are rare, and we currently do not have one. Therefore, quit launching 3's

Seems we've had another player or two get suspended for an NCAA tournament game. Anyone remember who? Ramar Smith and Brian Williams perhaps...

I think this team needs to define their roles amongst themselves, and then actually hold each other accountable. From the starters to the walk-ons.

Btw - off topic but holy cow - I didn't really pay attention to an FSU game this year until yesterday. I didn't realize how good of a frame Chris Singleton has and how well he moves for his size. Would be nice to have landed him over Woolridge at this point - would have helped with the toughness of this team.

Duke Crews, I think, could/would/should have filled that role nicely.

Major Wingate >>> Duke Crews. I'm not really sure how Duke was ever rated that highly coming out of high school. He has no real skill set outside of 5 feet and even that was pretty limited. His defense was O.K. but he was never a shot blocker and couldn't hold serve against heavy players due to his weight.

coach needs to recruit joe jackson and emmanuel andrews for our 2010 class. both can shoot the ball from anywhere on the court

Wish we could get Jackson but I doubt he leaves Memphis and I think we have enough guards don't we? Although we may lose a couple - like Hat said with Tabb - this is his 3rd or 4th suspension I think... but he wouldn't affect that class anyway since he'll be a senior next year.

Before anyone fires anyone let's consider the positives. They won the east and made the tournament. Losing the top 4 guards from last year hurt. 3 they knew they would lose, but they didn't expect to lose Ramar Smith. Perimiter defence may have been the #1 problem and RS would have helped that.

Winning the East was better than not winning it, but other than that, it wasn't as big as an accomplishment as it's being made out to be. I mean no other East team even made the NCAAT.

I don't want to see him dismissed or anything, but I do think the Brian Williams experiment needs to come to an end next season if he doesn't dramatically improve. He's just awful on offense and his defense isn't great by any means. I thought at times he showed some flashes but otherwise he didn't seem to improve that much this year. Not to mention for such a big guy he is very soft.

And everyone needs a clinic on how not to whine after a foul call.

Brian def showed flashes, but i now understand why doesnt play fb anymore. he wont put his big body on know one. he struggles to make point blank shots. anything further than the block is out of the question. free throws hahaha. defense? "where is my guy?" gets lost like a blind man in the dark.

One of the biggest differences I hope to see with next years team is for them to buy into the "team" and not themselves as much. Play to the whistle, not your next pose. This teams needs some humility and less prima donna.

Joe Jackson had a hell of a night last night (35 points) for White Station to win the TSSAA Class AAA championship game. The young man can play some ball.
