Hat, I don't think he'll all of those things, but if we manage 4 or 5 out of ten, can this team show significant improvement?

I totally disagree with almost everything anyone has said about this basketball team. I have another reason this team did not go as far as everyone wishes they did. . . .They simply are not that good.

Pearl is trying to build a foundation, he has to build that foundation so that no matter who departs from the roster the next years team will be just as strong. That takes time!

Can anyone tell me another SEC team that has hada better four year run than Tennessee has? Besides Florida with two National Championships the answer is noone and we all know what has happened to them the past two seasons.

I challenge someone to name all the teams that have had a more consistent four year run than Tennessee. I will bet we that the ten to possibly fifteen teams that do are teams with more history and a huge head start on the building of a program.

Calipari, and Pitino had a worse start to their careers at Memphis and Louisville. In fact it usually takes several years before most of the coaches starting out at a major program to make their first great eight. Give the man some time.

Noone needs to be fired but some fans need a huge dose of reality.

Good post, I have had Bruce's back from day one, and still have it. I think a lot of people on this site have his back as well, but just don't think about stuff before they post it, or they post something after a game and are just pissed that we lost.

what, to date, qualifies as foundation building?

I don't know much about the kids coming in--but Pearl HAS to find a couple of good perimeter players, guards who want to play defense and can do some good things on the offensive end. They don't have to be blue-chips--but they have to be athletic, have some skills and be willing to play good, tough, team basketball. This team, with the exception of T. Smith, was soft.

Four straight 20 win seasons, back to back sweet sixteens, 1st #1 ranking in school history, besides the first recruiting class which had R Childress as our headliner, we have strong recruiting classes.

Yes there have been some misses but there will be more that he will get right than wrong over time if we are patient. We have the 17th ranked PF coming in this next season who was offered by teams such as UCLA and then in 2010 we have the #9 ranked SG and the # 2 ranked PG coming in.

There should be marked improvement from S Hopson, Woolridge,EMAN along with the rest of the guys.

Another 20 win season will happen and hopefully the team will mesh together right and make their first serious run towards a final four.

12. Get rid of J.P Prince. He is a cancer to this team

J.P. Prince is a very important part of this team. Why do you feel he is a cancer? I wish he had a better outside shot but he still manages to get his points, rebounds, and assists.

Remember, Hopson was a Mickey D's All-American, and Woolridge I think was a 4 star prospect. So, give me any evidence to suggest that the next crop of guys won't be like this one and be completely soft and scared of contact.

Also, Bobby Maze was hailed as the answer to most of our problems at the point. What happened there?

My point is, you really can't say that these guys will be good until you see them in action at the college level.

It was said on a local radio station yesterday who was at the game behind the bench that when BP called a timeout on the last play, he wasn't EVEN in the huddle because he wasn't on the court.

Hopefully, Pearl goes to more of a traditional offense, instead of the 3 ball game that he used this year for the most party.

It did work for the previous 3 years, but I don't think this was one of those teams that could have made it work.

If JP doesn't find a shot in the off season, he's really going to hurt this team again next year, if our team has similar three point shooting woes. JP's man simply clogs the lane when he has the ball on the perimeter.

If that's the case that explains this teams struggles. Prince= Selfish, zero toughness, mental lapses and no heart.

If he would stop screaming and saluting whoever he salutes after every dunk and stop crying after every foul called against him that would be a start.

I agree with all points hat, but I think you fire Forbes instead of Shay. Shay is the best X and O guy on the staff, and always gets the scout for the big games and over his career, he has done a pretty good job on those scouts.

You hit it right on the head JZVOL and by the The guy i mentioned earlier was a sportswriter covering the game that said he wasn't even in the huddle for the last play. Jusxt sitting off to the side by himself

Hopson was a good freshman player ( not a one and done but not many are), I had seen enough of Woolridge to know that he had alot of growing as a player to be a good player in the SEC but he does have potential.

Ideally we will be able to build up enough depth in the future where the freshman coming in are meant to be more of a role player than the leader of the team except those one and done type studs.

I expect Hopson is going to be our answer at SG next season, im not as confident about Maze or Woolridge.

Either way we won the SEC EAST and made the tournament, I fully expect this team to compete for the SEC championship next year and make the tournament again. Everything else will depend on how well we mesh as a unit.

Keeping our team on the verge of greatness and eventually we will break through. Look back through the history of basketball and see if you can find one example where a team did not go through the same thing.
