Lawmakers: Clinton says she's ready to be Obama's VP - CNN.com

Rep. Charles Rangel, a senior member of the New York Democratic delegation, also told CNN, "I have reason to believe she is open to the [vice president] slot."
One of the sources added that former President Clinton has been privately pushing for a couple of weeks for his wife to be No. 2 on the ticket.
On Monday night, a close friend and advisor of the former first lady told CNN that Clinton will say tonight "that she will do whatever it takes" to put a Democrat in the White House. Barack Obama insiders saw that as an indication she would accept an offer to be his running mate if asked.
"In her speech [Tuesday] night, she will convey the message that first and foremost she is committed to Democrats winning in November and will do whatever she's asked to do," the Clinton advisor said.

Thoughts?

I said in another thread McCain will select Hillary as his running mate. Figured you'd like that one OE.

McCain would completely shun the GOP base and he cannot afford to do that. He will already get the Indy and spurned Clinton voters.

I'm not predicting anything just yet, too much can happen between now and November. That being said between McCain angering the conservatives and Obama's controversies, they're both trying hard to lose it seems like.

I told TennNC and he didn't believe me, but the winner will only get 43% of the vote.

It would be a big power play. Clinton joins the ticket. Obama's campaign has to pay all of her campaign debts, including paying her Back all of the money she spent from her own pocket. Bill gets appointed to serve out HRC's term as NY Senator and he will immediately become majority leader in the Senate (not speaker mind you) thereby allowing him to control the passage of legislation. The Clinton's would have more power than the president.

where the heck will the other 15% or so go? Bloomberg won't run. Barr maybe gets a decent chunk and kills McCain?

If 15% of voters (people who actually cast a ballot for prez in November) doesn't vote for either the Dem or GOP candidates, I may quit my job and follow OE.

Either that, or OE was sick the day they taught math.

I am telling you people will not vote for the trash either party is putting out.

It won't be long till a third party wins the White House and no it will not be Jack Ryan!

How do you figure that? If Hillary wanted it, she'd be about 3rd or 4th in line. I know he's an ex-president, but the guys ahead of him (including the current majority leader) won't relinquish their spot, especially with a potential filibuster-proof majority. at least I don't think they would.

Senator Bill would be interesting though. I reckon he might have an axe to grind with some folks.

First, I'll be surprised if they get to a fillibuster-proof majority. There is too much ticket splitting going on nowadays. Second, I doubt that Reid, Durbin and Murray have half the political ability of Bill. If he wants it, I think it's his.

Chuck Schumer has something to say about it too.

Is this what you think would happen, or is there an article that's predicting or imagining such a scenario?
