A+ troll job by Jones

Y'all do realize, don't you, that Butch Jones probably didn't even make the decision to build that display? Tennessee (like every other university AD) has an entire staff of people who market. And of course they're going to incorporate the current head coach's catch phrase. That's just how it is. Butch probably had little to no input in that design...no more than Derek Dooley had in the "Opportunity is Now Here/Nowhere" door.

he has input on every detail of uniforms

You're the typical over emotional fan that gives VN a bad name......

Thanks, Carl Pickens, I will be sure to log that in my journal.

You have to be the easiest person to rile up on this entire site. Lately it seems that rather than post anything of substance you choose to mostly spend your time ridiculing other posters. Feel free to click on my username and reply to more of my posts, I'm enjoying the attention. I don't understand why so many posters openly don't like you, Carl. You've been around forever...shame that more respect isn't given.

BTW, I have a few posts in the basketball forum if you want to head over there give me your opinion on those.

If you "hate" Butch Jones, you have much bigger problems than you realize. The guy tried his best and it's just football- a game.

Right. :eek:k:

They are using his slogan and schtick and the man is widely reported as a control freak who once spent several hundred thousand dollars resodding the turf in Neyland to keep it green year round for recruits.

But he has no input on where they put the most important piece of hardware this program has earned in a lifetime.

Keep telling yourself that if it works for you.

I thought Butch Jones was a good fit here and I liked the hire when it was made. Butch was very aggressive on the recruiting trail and made in-state recruiting a priority and worked hard to rebuild some relationships with area high school coaches which had been neglected under Dooley. Golden opportunities were missed the last two seasons to make the SECCG and put 10 or even 11 win seasons together and build some credit with the fan base. They should have beaten Oklahoma and Florida in 2015 and then South Carolina and Vanderbilt last year. He has serious flaws as a coach and for a variety of reasons didn't get it done. Excessive attrition was a problem from the start and too many highly touted players went either underutilized or undeveloped. Ultimately, I think he was also just too conservative in his offensive philosophy.

I hate Butch Jones as much as anyone and I hope he gets cut as soon as possible.

That said--the guy HAS to know he's on his way out. First he talks about players available for spring practice next year in his presser earlier and now this:

LOOK: Tennessee 'showcases' its National Championship trophy under a stairwell

Butch and his idiot slogans shouldn't be allowed in the same room as that trophy. What a disgrace that we'd brand our trophy case with his most recognizable cliché.

If you hate someone because they tried their hardest and failed to win football games you might need to reassess a few things in life.

No reason to hate the man. I honestly believe he tried his best, it just wasn't enough.

Butch is probably a likeable guy, tries very hard, wants to win badly and is great with young people...

....however he's like a 5-8 DB who runs a 4.9+. He doesn't have the tools to be successful at this level.

That trophy should be the center piece (since it's the most recent), in a glass case with the other NC trophies IMO. Pretty classless to enclose it in his lame slogan.

I think I'm the only poster this week to get the majority of posters to defend Jones in my thread.

The trick must be to come across as a bigger scumbag than your purported subject of hate could possibly aspire.

Indeed, something you know well, Butchna.

Btw are you going to change your username when we get new coach?

Few guys in another thread were talking about that yesterday and I thought it was pretty funny.

Jones gave all he had to UT and that is to be commended, but, that being said, Jones also was allowed to participate in, "on the job training at UT" and the sad part is, he's still learning the hard way.....or is he?

Light each other’s farts and pick on special kids too? :) Addressed this years ago. As long as I post, this’ll be the username.

You got it, buddy.

There is no way you aren't in on the joke, man. I know you'd never admit it on here but I've figured you out. You might have one of the funnier parody accounts on here.

I thought for sure that there wouldn't be a chance that a SDS (dumbest site on the web) story about a trophy case that cited an unverified twitter account as the main source would be taken this seriously.

Post had nothing to do with football and a lot to do with getting the old guys like you and Carl Pickens fired up. Go back and re-read it.

Says a lot about the current state of our football program. Everyone is very high-strung right now.

Good day, fellow vol fan.

You’re a master of mindgames. All you had to do was hint at actually hating a coach for issuing cliches and mockable quotes and hook, line and sinker people who would think that was a little off. :w00t: What’s your next sinister plan? Pose as a Walmart greeter and convince customers to have a terrible day?

If I did I guarantee that you and Pickens would be the two senior citizen customers complaining to my manager.

This made me laugh:

As one person wrote on Twitter, “That trophy was won by working like heck and watching video not some stupid slogan.”

I'll have a bratwurst blistered a bit on the grill with caramelized onions and mustard. Thank you.
