ABC network questions

That means you should be able to watch it with only an espn subscription then, correct?

With just the ESPN app it is "as long as you have verified your TV ESPN provider". If someone is just using ESPN app I recommend they login to see if our game is shown as locked just in case.

It is part of the ESPN+ package.

How to watch an ESPN3 event: If you have already verified your TV provider, you will be able to navigate and watch all available content. If a lock icon appears next to your content, you will need to verify your account. Non-participating TV provider customers may have access to ESPN3 programming online at https://www.espn.com/watch/, as long as they subscribe to a participating high speed internet service provider. Users accessing the URL above or the ESPN mobile app (Android or iOS) via an on-campus (.edu) or on-base (.mil) network receive complimentary access to ESPN3 content.

You would think as much as I pay for hulu / espn / disney, I could get ABC as an add-on...
BTW - bought a cheap set of digital "rabbit ears" to see if I can get ABC locally with no internet / cable

ABC is part of my Hulu Live bundle. The Virginia game is also on ESPN3, you should be able to access thru the app.

yeah I'm 'cheap' and don't do Hulu Live...sounds like that's going to change soon though if everything I'm reading / hearing is true about networks (ESPN, ABC, CBS, etc.) clamping down on streaming 'violators'.
However, if UVA is on ESPN3 it might be on Hulu / ESPN.

Does anyone know if the Directv/ABC feud isnt settled how to watch the game? Will ESPN have an option? Will the ABC app stream it live? Will Yuotube have a stream of the game? Or do i need to sale a kidney and buy tickets?
Disney is really struggling financially, i'd say they'll make a deal just keep the advertising dollars flowing.

The stations in question are ABC affiliates owned by Sinclair Broadcast Group not Disney. While Disney may be interested in the outcome, they don't really have a dog in that fight.

maybe not directly, but they do get some of those advertising dollars and right know disney needs every penny they can scrape up.

Primary Television Affiliation Agreement

Again the issue isn't Disney's or ABC's, it pertains to the retransmission of local ABC channels owned by Sinclair.

Here's a typical licensing agreement for an ABC affiliate, it details the fees the affiliates pay to ABC group.

the financial situation of Disney looks to me to be vastly exaggerated but I'm not interested in going down that rabbit hole

I have AT&T UVerse and there is a big disparity between them and Nexstar according to the informational message on Channel 6.

I doubt that this gets resolved before September 2nd.

Your best options would be the ESPN app stream... Or an antenna. I work for an ABC affiliate in Ohio and been through many of these retransmission blackouts over the years. They rarely last more than a few weeks.

Isn’t this one going on close to 2 months? I think it started at the beginning of July.

Does anyone know if this is going on with comcast/xfinity? I’m going to watch at Schultz Brau and wondering if they will even be able to show it. Be interesting to see how local establishments handle this.

The easiest solution if you live near Knoxville or Nashville (or any major city) is just to buy an HD antenna.

You'll get ABC, CBS, NBC, and Fox.

At that point, all you have to do is figure out how to get ESPN and you have football covered.

Pro tip, you don’t need an HD antenna. It’s a marketing ploy. I have an internal in my 4k and an external 12$ antenna and I get HD. It’s all in the tuner
Do you need an HD antenna?

To my knowledge, it is not.
