Compared to Tony Pollard in size and running style.
Something I hadn’t heard about him-
“He also appears to have outstanding leadership and intelligence. During his sophomore season, Sampson was routinely asked to give the pregame speech even though he was just a backup at the time. And his high school coach joked that he’s the only player he’s coached with a GPA higher than his 40 time.”

Super small sample size so obviously can't take a ton from it, but still impressive to do against a really good defense in a high pressure moment:

Steelers writer ? 🤔

He would be a great fit in Pittsburgh. Especially with Najee Harris gone.
Yes, but he’s showing him as the Steelers pick in the 3rd. Not happening that low IMO.

Mel Kiper Jr.'s Underrated NFL Draft Prospects:

Running Back: Dylan Sampson, Tennessee

The 2025 running back class is deep, but Kiper has singled out Dylan Sampson for his explosive speed and contact balance. At 5-foot-8 and 200 pounds, Sampson is a home-run threat every time he touches the ball, with 12 runs of 20 yards or more in 2024. His consistency is notable, as he averaged at least 5.0 yards per carry, scored at least one touchdown, and accumulated over 100 rushing yards in eight of his 13 games last season. Kiper projects Sampson as a third- or fourth-round pick, noting his reliability and blocking capabilities.

ROI for anyone taking him in 3rd round will be very good.

Dylan will always be one of my favorites. My grandson had a "100th Day of School" project. He made a football field with 50 orange squares and 50 white squares. His teacher's niece is dating DS and she sent him a picture of it. He took time out to send my grandson a video thanking him for the project and congratulating him on being so creative. My grandson's name is Samson and Dylan mentioned what a great name it is and to never forget it was a strong and powerful name. He is attending DS's camp this summer, and he told him he couldn't wait to meet him and spend time hanging out with him. That is a true VFL and will forever be a legend at UT and in our home.

Sampson really is one of the more interesting prospects to watch even if one isn't a UT fan. His evaluation ceiling/floor variance is kinda crazy. I've seen him valued as low as in the 20's per some people and as high as #2 only behind Jeanty. Given the kind of "guy" he is on top of just being a player it's possible he goes higher than many might expect if he impressed the right people.
