Acoustic Guitars

That's relative, and it was probably relatively beat and closer to one of their entry-level models. Every Martin I've played worth a damn was a grand or more. Same goes for electrics though; that $1,000 mark typically seems to be the dividing line between good and really good guitars.

100% completely disagree. Have played many 300-500 dollar guitars that sound better than a 1000 dollar guitar. Especially when it comes to electrics. I found a G&L for 475 dollars that I have played against multiple 800-1200ish dollar Fender Strats and it sounds better than any of them. The only one that sounds better than it is the 2k John Mayer signature

I'm going to disagree with both of you :) I've played a lot of good guitars around the 15hundred dollar range, and a very few great ones. Most great ones that I have played are older guitars that guys wouldn't give up for any price...or in the 4k + range.

I should add that I realize I'm playing a crappy guitar in my avatar...it's what was in the house at the time.

Taylor's are much better acoustics than Gibson's
You sound like the guys at the guitar shops telling me about the best acoustic guitars nowadays! I hear ya man. But like I tell them, I dont play no effin Taylor.

I play Gibson L-1, or Gibson J- 45's. If you talk Martins, I play them all. The deeper the big E the better.

Each his own. I dont pluck new country.

No scientific reason. I have played them before to make them boys leave me alone and they sounded great. I guess I am just stubborn and prejudiced. If it aint a Martin or Gibson, I dont play them. I am coming off like a snob arent I?!

I just fell in love with these guitars and a young age.

Nah man. I was just wondering why the Taylor hate. But no worries. To each their own.

I've only ever played one Gibson that I thought was worth anything. If you like martins then you should check out a collings.

Out of the ones you mentioned. Alvarez has given me way more long term dependability. Wayyyy more. If you can get someone to give it a good setup and keep the strings pretty fresh, you'll like them. But its all personal preference.
