A few years ago at a Marine Corps training school, I was a young PFC when me and my buddies were yelled at for talking while eating noon chow. By this point we were entirely used to the arbitrary nature of our instructors, and simply answered in the affirmative and kept eating. Some of our class NCOs (higher ranking individuals who were changing jobs within the Marine Corps) came over to us and began berating us (jokingly) for being so stupid to think we could talk when there was absolutely nothing to do and no reason not to. They told us that when we enlisted, we gave up every change to enjoy ourselves. "Once a Marine, always a Marine." That means you never get to have fun ever in your lives. "Just look at your instructors! They've clearly never enjoyed themselves a moment in their lives!" This went on for several minutes with all of us struggling to keep from laughing.
As soon as I read this thread, that's exactly what I thought of. I was still 5 years away from marrying my wife the last time we won and now she is carrying our third child (Neyland James). I'm probably gunna enjoy this win more than any other since it's the first big win in a REALLY long time. Pretty sure we rushed the field in 98...Guess we should've been a little more subdued today though...
