A lot of whiners on here…as always. If any fan base should know (but this one apparently doesn’t), sometimes you win some you aren’t supposed to win (LSU, Alabama) and lay an egg in others (SC).

Saban has won multiple titles when he went 11-1 and lost one that was a surprise. But it wasn’t in his second season at Alabama…when that team overachieved.

Bottom line. So far this season, this staff got way more out of this roster than any REASONABLE fan could have expected. I don’t know what the h$ll happened at SC, but sh@t happens.

IT DOESN’T take away from the fact that this team has overachieved this season.

Win Saturday and it’s still a great season.

I just don’t won’t Jeremy Banks on the team. He is a liability and not deserving to wear the Orange or representing Tennessee. I think we just line 11 on the line and let the receivers run free since we have NO one who cares to defend the pass. So much to play for and that side of the ball just packed it in. There’s a reason our pass coverage is LAST.
You realize without him we have several more losses?

Ehhh, Duncan, you'd have been just as crushed had we lost the first playoff game to idk, maybe TCU. We woulda lost by having like 4 fumbles, 3 bad game changing calls, some dumb offensive play call, or very possibly giving up 400 yards passing or something. The only way for these seasons to not disappoint is to end the playoff w a win.

Yeah USCjr just sucked. But, they really blocked well, threw it well, caught it well, tackled well, kept out O relatively in front of them well, play called very creatively, and even rushed out QB pretty well. They did it all by not turning the ball over too. I don't like it a bit, we got out coached, and their players wanted it more to the point that they locked in and played their best game of maybe a generation. As bad as it sux, they deserved it.

On to the rebound v the CommodeDoors this weekend. It'll still be a great season if we can do that.

Until something solid about Banks either way comes out I'm not going to trash the youngster. Lots of speculation, lots of conjecture, lots of loaded up hatred by his detractors just wanting another chance to go after him. One guy doesn't make a team perform that badly even if what some are accusing Banks of is totally true. The coaches have a responsibility to have their team ready to perform. Beamer had his team ready Heupel did not, it's just that ^%$#ing simple.

Reflecting on this loss I'm still emotionally drained. I know we have a lot to play for but losing to SCAR the way we did soured this season for me. Before the season if you'd told me we'd be 9-2 going into Vandy I'd be ecstatic . We beat Florida. We'd skull dragged LSU. Hell we FINALLY beat Bama. We were on top of the world. We hit a buzzsaw in Athens but that wasn't shocking. UGA is the champ and we were in there house. Our offense had a bad day and UGA made us pay. No shame in losing if you go down swinging.

Everything was still in front of us. We were in the Playoff hunt in mid November. It was feeling like the 90s once again. I forgot how good it felt seeing TN in the hunt for a NC. What made it even sweeter is NO ONE saw this coming in year 2. No one can turn things around that fast but Heup was doing it. Then Sat happened. We got blown Out by a really bad SCAR team. They beat us in every way. They humbled and humiliated us and once again no one saw it coming. Just like that a shot at the playoffs went puff.

I know yall think I'm dumber than dog s**t saying this season is a failure but I can't make chicken salad out of this chicken s**t. We came out of nowhere and in a blink of an eye we were playoff contenders. We were almost there. Just a couple more steps then BOOM back to reality. My BVS has come back worse than ever. Just can't understand how we looked that bad against really bad team. I'm still hopeful we get to 11 wins. I'm still on the Heup Train. I think he can be special. Our future looks bright. That being said the season is tarnished. Too get so close only to faceplant in the home stretch hurts like hell. There is no better feeling than watching TN play like at an elite level. I missed that feeling so much. This season isn't a failure but damn if it isn't a disappointment. We were so damn close Nation. I don't know why I can't accept last Sat. It feels like 96 Memphis. I guess I just need time. I know I'm whining but it is what it is. Does anyone else here feel like this? I hope I'm not the only one.
No. Thankful for a great season that added joy to my life. Moved on from the loss. I’m a grad, I have an entire room dedicated to Tennessee, I live in another state and have still taken my kids to games every year since they were little. I’m as big a fan as anyone out there. And it was just a loss; my life moved on. Just a game, fellas. Stop letting it make or break you.

Our defense got exposed by a talented qb on a hot streak and a very good offensive scheme that played to their strengths and our weaknesses. Flush it and focus on the next opponent. Win that and go to a nice bowl. Keep your eye on the prize.
But that QB was NOT on a hot streak just 7 days ago. They generated only 200 yards against Fla.

Don't care what was going on outside the field of play. This is a team. This is something the entire roster and staff have sweated and bled for since Heupel took the head job. With all that work and all that sacrifice, there's nothing that should have gotten in the way and into so many heads. These playoffs are incredibly hard to get into. When you can see the finish line right smack in front of you, you pour it on and finish the race. This team didn't do that. Call it inexperience, lack of maturity, or something else, but the ring was right there for the taking and they blew it. It's been 50 years since I had the pads on but there are games I'd give anything to do over. And those were no where near the importance of the SC game. After a period of time, this group of vols will really regret letting that opportunity get away. It will haunt them for the rest of their lives. Sounds melodramatic but it's true.

Thank you.

I really think it was more or our defensive scheme than lack of effort with most all of the defense. I watched and noticed several defensive players were playing hard, they were just out of position, and I think this is all on the defensive coaches. We were basicaly giving up 8 to 10 yard cushion on defense.
It was both

Damn man, step away from the ledge. It's going to be okay.
Don't let the Volunteers be the end all of everything. The low spots will happen, enjoy the highs..
I know it's been awhile but the Vols will return to a national contender.
It's amazing how people point to Bama as this unstoppable force but they have forgotten when the tide was in the crapper. Running through coaches every three years, LSU the same story.
We will be back, and by the looks of things pretty darn soon.

That situation in the locker room between Banks and Hooker was not an isolated event regarding NIL, there have been others and there will be more

Truth. Allowing the result of a football game to affect your life is insane, but I suspect those that do have been engaging in self flagellation since the end of the game by seeking out every social media site, comments section, talk radio, or some ESPN show that will further rub their nose in the dirt and claim this loss is the biggest disaster since the Hindenburg.

Step away from the talking leeches and internet trolls and take a deep breath. You're welcome.

Saban never got blown out by an unranked team. Not once.

I've been married to The Power T for 38 years and I'll admit my passion hits unhealthy levels from time to time. True Love will do that to a man.
