After watching Alabama

USC is loaded with talent, but Clay Helton was a terrible hire. People close to that program were worried about the way he was doing things before the season started (I read about this a few days before the game), practices seemed unorganized etc. I'm not saying Bama not going to be great, but this wasn't Pete Carroll's SC powerhouse.

It wasn't Appy St either. Keep the moonshine close.

No one was comparing Appy to SC. That's from your own imagination and attempting to troll.

Alabama played a solid game against a former perennial powerhouse in the PAC12 that did quit early in the game, whether you care to admit it or not. Now, has the media already begun to crown Bama as the next SEC and MNC based upon one game? Yes, to an extent.

Tennessee played absolutely piss poor football against a somewhat inferior opponent and in Neyland of all places. UT needed OT to pull out a win and a lucky break with Hurd in the right place at the right time. Has the media basically written off UT as being overhyped and now on the same level as Kentucky or Mississippi State? To an extent, yes.

What I'm getting at is all of this is based upon one game and we all know one game doesn't make the season.

If I was directing my comment to you, you would have seen the quotes. I watched both games, but thanks for the interpretation of what shoney really meant to say but just didn't have your literary skill to get it done.

Like I said dude, they are loaded with talent. According to that 247 talent index thing SC has ten 5 stars and 43 4 stars on their roster. That projects as the 2nd most talented roster in the nation, guess who is 1st (Tennessee is 12th)? Clay Helton is an idiot, no way that roster should take a drubbing that bad. By the way that 2016 College Football Team Talent Composite is pretty interesting to look at. I don't know how to do a link.

So you shouldn't mine my rebuttal?

It's your choice to reply however you want. However, when I visit other boards, I tend to tread lightly...but that's just me.

The only thing I can say we are on par with them is the secondary. And the only things better are Rbs. Dline I don't know. Our DTs didn't look great.

I do think people are getting ahead of themselves with Hurts. It was one game. Let's see how he looks going forward.

USC had not prepared for Hurts. They had no answer, and were a team that gave up.

No, USC just sucks!

I don't look at the opponent. I'm simply evaluating the team itself..

Most of the Alabama players are in much better shape this year. And a lot of better athletes have replaced the guys who played last year.

The title of the thread is after watching Alabama. If you actually watched it, Alabama played 3 QBs and they outperformed Dobbs colletively. Dobbs had a 114 QB rating and their QBs combined had a 215 QB rating and threw for more yards, ypc, TDs and a higher percentage. Their RBs also outperformed ours and it wasn't even close. They averaged 5.4 per carry and we averaged 3 yards per carry. They rushed 45 times for 242 yards and we rushed 43 times for 127 yards. They were playing USC and we were playing Appy State. Unfortunately they appear to be better than us at every position "After watching the Alabama game". The stats aren't even close. If you actually watched both games there is no rational way to come to a conclusion that we are better than them at any position. The NFL draft in the next few years will prove this also. Sorry, I hate Alabama more than any other team but stats don't lie.

It's only one game. When I evaluate players I don't give them credit for the opponents mistakes. USC after the first half gave up. Hurts and Harris got some huge plays in the second half purely off mistakes by the defense not great plays that they created.

Hurts looked good but people are jumping the gun with him. He made only one good throw the entire game (the bomb to Stewart). The rest was underneath stuff and a long TD resulting from a coverage breakdown. Lets see what he looks like when teams can actually start gameplanning for him.

Damien Harris is not very good. USC just lacked lane discipline and gave up huge running lanes. Harris is no better than John Kelly. He would be fighting for 3rd string if he was on our team.

Out of curiosity, how do you evaluate players? Your two big draft sleepers were Kelvin Taylor and Marquez North, the first of whom is on the practice squad of a mediocre team, and the other is completely unsigned. It would seem that whatever criteria you are using might need some reassessment.

Trust the process.

He needs to hope Derrick Henry's production in the preseason was a fluke or that evaluation isn't going to look very prescient either.

Never said Marquez would be a great player. Only said his size/speed combo warranted getting drafted higher.

I was high on Kelvin Taylor as a player. And still am. He'll get his shot soon enough and make the most of it. Many successful RBs have slow starts to their careers.

That may be true but we have like 15 AA's, 9 1st team AA's, 2 heisman ballad contenders and a heisman winning qb, THE most talented team ever to wear orange and the best ever nationally except MAYBE 2001 Miami, and will blow out everybody except bama who we will beat twice in our SECC and NC 15-0 run. Bama don't stand a chance!

Trust your evaluations man. They seem to be kinda working out for you. We are 1-0.

What recruiting service do you work for? Five star out of high school. Nine carries for 138 Saturday, but just because USC lacks lane discipline. Right...

You'd put him behind Kamara? Really, dude? What were Kamara's rushing totals against Appy State?

I'll let you get back to whistling as you walk by the cemetery...
