Aidoo to the portal confirmed

It’s the generation of quitters and non loyalty. The new era of college sports that’s supposed to be “better.”
Nah, this is nothing but business. They want bigger paydays or a shot at more playing time. The vast majority won't be making NBA salaries so this is their time to make hay.

No surprises going forward. Just expect a new roster each season. There will be hits and misses with the transfers as we’ve already experienced. I would not want to be a coach in this era unless you knew you had the $ to buy the players you need.
Absolutely…we are officially in a different day with the portal. I’m just intrigued by some fans still not comprehending the old rules no longer apply. All this back and forth discussion is kinda pointless but does allow some “dominant” poster to flex their “insider” muscles 😂.

Isn't this his 3rd transfer? Think he's got 2 years left so this, in all likelihood a one year rental. He'd be on the move next year, too, right?
To be fair, anyone could be on the move after one year.

It’s the way now

Sad but true. Would be nice to think a player might stay at one place for a couple of seasons. Naive to be sure. Maybe the UK way of one and dones is more realistic with the current rules? Instead of HS kids, just grab a group of guys in their final years of eligibility and are more physically and emotionally mature. Pretty clear taking a guy because he has multiple years is pointless in today's portal market. Load up on 1 year mercs. Is there even a point of making HS recruiting a priority anymore?

Guess the idea of the alumni from a school providing good job opportunities after graduation no longer has value to these athletes?

Obviously, there's been a ton of tampering going on. I wonder how long. I sensed something was off with the team the last part.of the season. I wonder if some of these guys weren't as focused as they could have been.
Not sure it was the "team", but I said this very thing about Aidoo when he was pulling no shows late. Wondered if he already had a foot out the door? I think it's very possible if not likely.

I guess they'll try to latch on to that at their last stop. I think that was only important as it pertains to a lack of professional opportunities.

Aidoo was definitely just slinging stuff towards the rim in the tournament. I don't want him to transfer out though. That would be a really negative development.

Up until NIL it was the coaches that juiced the players, with NIL the players are juicing the coaches. Neither is better or worse, only different. Next step is mid season transfers with immediate eligibility.

I can't grasp that you are coming off a Elite Eight....a final ranking of 5th at a good program with a good coach and yet there is several leaving. Makes zero sense to me.
If you give them the option combined with the publicity of an elite 8 team performance you will lose a lot of players each year. There are so many reasons, homesick, outside NIL offers, bench sitting, coaching pressure, family influences. Now you have to re-recruit the entire roster every year then recruit the portal as well as the high school level. The job is much tougher for the coaches which is why they make the big bucks.

Depends on where his mind was during the tournament. If he was just off during crunch time, it happens, but if he was focused on the portal, I'd consider his departure a positive.

I just think it was a lack of toughness on that big stage. Another year may make a big difference though.

You all are acting like Aidoo is some type pf Lew Evens basketball player

He did a lot of great things for us and showed out multiple games. His tourney performance were indeed bad, but people don't see the whole picture

I see a guy who has shown great potential but has to get his confidence up and his the weight room a bit more.

Ideally, I'd like to see our roster consist of:

PG:ZZ
SG:Carr
SF: darlinstone
PF: st Thomas
C:Ballo/Aidoo (doubt he's back though)
