Knox Sentinel reporting Ainge was down for a week with an aggrevation to an existing upper back injury after a minor fender bender.
What's going to happen when he takes that first big hit from an oversized SEC defender? I promise you it will hurt more than a minor fender bender.
With our season season effectively riding on his back, I hate to hear that its actually riding on an injured upper back. VERY WORRYING!!!!!!!

I have seen at least one post on Scout's RTN board from someone who seems to have decent sources, which indicates that some of the staff think Crompton may be the starter by game #3. Could be complete BS.

I'm sure i'm not the only one who is not looking forward to seeing another year of qb rotation...Let's hope that Ainge will just go in and get the job done.

i want ainge to get it done but if he cant/wont we need to get someone in there that will and i think crompton will.

who are the "decent sources"? Everyone in the local news media continues to say that Crompton is not ready. Cut even said is more or less a true freshman.!

Once again no one will know until we see him in action. And most of us won't see that until Sept. 2. I have no idea what people see in Crompton other than a change. He was injured last year as well. No idea what to expect from an injured redshirt.

Just a minor leap in logic there. :focus:

True. He was not impressive. I'm not sure if he even completed a pass over 7 yards.

Two comments:
1. Ainge is on a short leash already.
2. There is a detailed contingency plan. If they go to Crompton it will be a watered down offense.

I had the same thought, but the car will absorb a lot of the force. If he will rest it he should be O.K. The way the spine is shaped the upper back isn't nearly as prone to disc problems as the lower neck or lower back. It's most likely a sprain strain, but that can be significant in a high impact collision. Hopefully it was just a fender bender.

As a side note; "Todays Chiropractic" did an article on college football and their team Chiropractors. The two doctors they covered were UT's and Ark.'s, and the game was the 1998 clash.

Now that is some serious evaluation of a hasty post. Strong work. I had no idea about the mag. article. The impact is also affected by if he was wearing a seat belt, air bags, etc. Just a thought, could you = the car to a helmet and pads in football?

Well, we're used to that. Our offense has been watered down for a while now.

If Crompton is a bust is it Cooter time? Oh yeah, he got busted and is on probation or something.

Last year, our offense was comparable to a 1968 Volkswagen Bus trying to climb Monteagle Mountain.

Or the world's largest man fighting to get out of quicksand.

I'm just saying, our offense hasn't exactly been great the last few years for many reasons.

If you read the article it clearly states he was in a minor fender bender. Now, I have personally been in both a minor fender bender and hit pretty damn hard on the football field (by someone MUCH smaller than a D1 defensive player at that), and I would hands down prefer the fender bender if I had to choose.

Minor leap in logic, don't think so guys.

Hasty?... maybe, no harm in that though.

Bottom line is Ainge won't take a lickin' and keep on tickin' a la Casey Clausen. A couple big time hits and the fear we all saw in his eyes during the LSU game will return once again. Coach Cut nor any other coach can teach heart. You are either born with it or you not. I personally don't think he has it. I hope he proves me wrong but I would not put money on it.

I give him three games MAX.

I wasn't speaking of your reply being hasty, I was speaking of mine. I also has some evidence to the 'fender bender" vs. the football tackle. I work in the ED and have seen plenty of minor fender benders (about 5 a day) and they all vary in amount of pain inflected. But, when they do it is quite severe. I have seen plenty of football inj. and hits as well and they keep on playing. You simply cannot generate the same amout of force from a 300lb man going maybe 7mph vs a 1500lb car going 25mph. Simple physics man.
