Well Ainge is proven and Clausen showed more attitude than his surfer brother Casey so that is why I put him second......

I thought Clausen looked great in the Cotton Bowl....with a little more playing time and confidence he may emerge as the starting QB next season....

Erik Ainge, Jonathon Crompton, Rick Clausen(he could be 2nd stringer either way,the race will be for 2nd stringer THIS YEAR), Brent Shaffer

people there is a reason we have spring practice.....how could you just give someoen that starting position now?

Why not speculate? We have to have something to talk about now that the Colts are out of the playoffs and college football isn't happening.

Gotta remember that Texas A&M had one of the worst pass defenses in the country. Most QB's could have done what he did. Albeit, he keeps a cool head, but the only time he's gonna get a game like that in the SEC will be the final two weeks of the season. Clausen still has yet to prove his a good passer, Ainge has already demonstrated he can play well against any pass defense.

Ainge, Clausen, and Crompton

I see Shaffer transferring. Ainge deserves the starting role he did nothing when healthy to lose the job. That being said, Leak when into practice camps the starter, with Clausen number 2, so when practices actually roll around. anything can happen.

AS I remember Shaeffer came in the South Carolina Game and gave the Spark Tennessee needed to win. You remeber the play of the game. The kid broke his collarbone and came back in to play. Ainge was the starter yes he got hurt to. I remeber Shaeffer against LA Tech and like everyone else WOW.

yeah, Schaeffer played amazing against Tech, but he couldnt do it against Florida...my point is, he will never be great unless he learns to not think run first

The only good defense that Clausen faced was Auburn and he didn't fair so well. Granted, our WR's dropped a few, but everytime Clausen tried to make a throw the DB's were all over our WR's before the ball got there. Ainge has the arm and can give our offense more options. Including the long ball. While I appreciate what Clausen did for us, I don't think that he has the arm strength. Besides most of our recruits are coming to Tennessee to play ball with Ainge and/or Crompton.

clausen is the smartest QB on the roster right now, Ainge may catch him if he works hard, Shaeffer tore LA tech up but hey it was LA tech, Crompton will redshirt
