We will never know if this so called quaterback is right are not if they dont take that green jersy off from him. I would not let that boy ever wear it again and if he cant perform with it off then i wouldnt let him wear a ut jersey period. Listen i dont know how he will be this year he may be ok but my point is the coaches willnt know either if they let him wear that protection jersey. And im not all about another year like last year!! My only point is let im play with it off then if he is productive even with an all out blitz then i would let him put it back on!!!! But untill they make him take it off i will not be satisfied with him at qb untill he proves he can perform under pressure!! What does everyone else think. I mean im not crazy i know we dont want him hurt but still if he chokes like last year i mean he might as well be hurt!!

IF that were to ever happen and IF he was hurt could you imagine the backlash? Don't you remember all the complaining about how stupid it was to call the play that he ended up hurt on in 04? Come on, I understand what you are saying but risking injury to your starting QB in spring is just reckless.

I think with Cut back, he will be ok. There are too many injuries in practice already without pressing your luck.

Why don't we just wait until Ainge throws the ball (or not) and then have a few players hit him with baseball bats and 2x4's?

I honestly expect his hit jitters to have been overcome by now... it has been a yaer and a half since he got creamed by ND.

I was being sarcastic just in case someone didn't get that... He won't have to worry about getting hit if he has improved on dropping back and getting rid of the ball. He held it too long last year..

Im not bashing ainge im just speaking the truth. And everybody may not want to admit it but deep down everybody wonders about the boy!! Yes i believe in cutcliffe but you can only teach somebody so much and if he is scared and dont perform under pressure Then if you dont put if under pressure than he will never be worth a S***. So call it bashing if you want to but its the truth! And only pressure will tell and if he is not getting that in practice. Then game time rolls around and that is his problem then are we are agian the same as last year!

Yeah, I wonder about him too. But we've also seen him pick apart SEC defenses. He's done it before, so you know damn well he was capale of it. Every single part of the offense last year was bad and made every other part look worse. The o-line played terrible, but so did Ainge making the o-line worse, and he had a lot of questionable throws which made the receivers look bad but the WR's at the same time was as lazy a group as I've ever seen, etc. It was chaos. I think it's ridiculous to point fingers in the situation. The offense failed on every level.

I believe Cutcliffe has already earned his stripes as an offensive coach. I trust him to get some more points on the board in our favor this coming season.

I understand what you're saying, but letting your probable starting QB take hits in the Spring is begging for disaster.

 assuming the o-line plays like they did last season?

Ainge sucked hard in scrimmages last year. He completed around like 40% of his passes. That's why it was such a slap in the face to Clausen, who was more in the 70% range. Good playing time in the scrimmages for Ainge this year may lead to better play come game time.

Don't take it off completely. Let someone come in and "not hear the whistle" every now and then. Just keep him honest.

He better not suck next year. My wife bought me a #10 jersey. I would like to wear it.

Bad idea. A QB is always only one hit and a bad landing away from being out for the year. Save your dice for the big money game, if you ask me.

And the only thing all those Clausen completions in practice accomplished was to devide the team because they didn't help much in the real games. :bad:

A mod with an attitude. Just what the board needs! :D

Personally, I believe Coach Cut should make the call. If Ainge looks sluggish, lost, or slow in getting the ball out. Pull the green shield off. As long as he looks decisive and dictates offensive pace, he's protected. That way he's rewarded for doing what he should know and is "punished" for poor performance / decisions. Most learn pretty quickly under those terms, plus it's a hell of an incentive to get rid of the ball...quickly. Let's get out of the slow motion offense we've had for 6 years & get the ball up the field!!!

It ain't going to any easier than these controlled practice sessions.

Perhaps this has already been stated in some shape form or fashion, but why would you let your only experienced quarterback take hits in the spring?

:banghead:

Oh, you will find me at the spring game, either my wife and I will be holding the Ainge for Heisman sign! Oooohhhhh Raaaahhhh!

The other will be holding my newborn son in his Ainge jersey! Oooohhh Rah!

AINGE FOR HEISMAN! :dance2:

I think we all have questions about Ainge, but risking injury in the spring is probably not the answer.

Maybe they should start making Ainge throw the ball out on I-40. If rush hour traffic and tractor-trailers don't don't pressure him, nothing will.
