Somewhat lost in all our problems stopping the flexbone was the performance of Erik Ainge:

24-29 for 323 yards and 3 TDs

He did throw the one pick in the 4th quarter, but all in all it was by far the best performance of Ainge's career. :good!::clapping:

Agreed. He basically carried the team tonight. Outstanding game.

He had 2 passes dropped, and 2 throw aways. He reallllllllllllllllly looked great.

Other than the one bad throw that got picked, he pretty much had a flawless game. Out of the other 4 incompletions, 2 of them were thrown away and 2 of them were very catchable balls that were either dropped or dislodged.

He reminded me of Tee Martin against South Carolina the day he completed 23 in a row against them. Of his 5 incompletions, 2 were drops 2 were throwaways under pressure and the pick. Can't get much better than that.

Of his 5 incompletions, two were dropped passes that hit the receivers right in the hands. One was intentionally thrown out of bounds because a defender had started to wrap Ainge up in the backfield. Another one appeared to be intentionally thrown in the ground on a roll-out play to the right where Ainge was under severe pressure to unload the ball and their was a defender in pretty good position to make a play on a pass to the receiver in the right flat. Not only did Ainge complete an extremely high percentage of his passes, but he also made some fantastic decisions on the passes that he didn't complete.

I had walked out of the room on the interception that Ainge threw, but I was told that it looked like a really well thrown ball but that Ainge just never saw the linebacker that dropped back in front of the receiver.

I see that several posters already beat me to posting these details.

You know it's a good day when three people can recount every single incomplete pass.

So you guys are saying that of the 5 incompletions, 2 were throwaways and 2 were drops and the 1 INT?

I hope this officially ends the outcries by Vol fans wanting to trade Erik for Brent Schaeffer.

He looks great to say the least and if he can hold his on next week against a very good Florida D the sky's the limit for us.
