We are working like heck to make sure we don't put him in positions he's not ready for,'' Fulmer said.

Patience.....................nothing wrong with what Fulmer said.

He would say the same about Crompton, Cooter and the rest of our elite quarterbacks..........................

When was this said and in what cotext? I agree that Ainge is not a wonderboy but he is in a new offensive scheme, so I see nothing new about this statement. Three more days and we will see.

It's not a new offensive scheme. It's the same one we've run for the past 20 something years, bascially. It's just a matter of doing it correctly.

I disagree. We have a recycled OC but Ainge was not here for his personal playbook. I see a moderate difference between what Sanders was calling vs. what DC called. Plus, I am sure that he has tweaked his playbook over the years. But this is all specutalion because i am not in practice and O don't have a playbook.

not. He had a lot of issues to deal with. A couple of people I know inside the program think he has improved greatly since last year but with a little work left. The thoughts are that it will now take some tempering in real games to see if everything changed and learned up to this point have sunk in. If not, will they sink in? Most inside the program believe he's on his way to being at least an average if not better than average SEC/D1 QB. The real test begins Saturday.

Speaking of Fulmer, if you haven't noticed, he's much more guarded with his words than he was a year ago. Can't say that I blame him. The team overall seems to be better prepared than this time last year, attitudes have changed for the good, the offense has been changed in ways you'll notice and in way's you'll not notice if you are a novice.

As to overanalysis of Fulmer's comments...no kidding. This seems to be the current fad sport on the internet. Fulmer will never be nominated for the Mensa Society, he's just a football coach.

I'm glad you said it. Our offensive scheme will be almost the same, with a few new wrinkles that EVERYONE will have to learn. This isn't like going from Randy Sanders to Rich Rodriguez.

I can't wait until the real game begins and all the what-if's and I think's are put to rest. Vols will triumph using great D and an average to good offensive performance.

I don't take what any coach says to seriously. If I was a coach I'd use the media to make the other team feel as if they had an advantage, anyone see that episode of Coach where Hayden Fox announces that his star QB is hurt and everyone believes it and he comes in the Pioneer Bowl at the end to win it for Luther, Dauber and Coach Fox. Thats kind of what I'm talking about. (If you can't tell I loved that show.)

No worries friends. CPF has the magic fairy dust.....remember? All is well.

Seriously though, Saturday cannot come fast enough. Let's all wait and see what happens in a real game because the predictions are getting old.

GO VOLS!!!!!!

I agree with ya! All this what if-- what's the team eating before and after the game--is tiring.

How do you have a problem with that statement? Seriously, wow! Fulmer should say what..."we are going to put him in position to fail and he is so good he doesnt even need to get any better....?"

Maybe he was just assuring us that EA won't be running the option on Sat. :dunno:

Our offense shouldnt matter if it is new or not. Of course Coach Cut has put some new wrinkles in, but in the end it comes down to executing the damn play.

As long as Ainge doesnt totally have a meltdown we should be fine. Just get the ball to the WR's and let them make plays. Way to much is going into this Ainge thing.

I agree on that part. Ainge doesn't need to be All-SEC or anything for us to be successful this year. As long as he doesn't make too many mistakes, we'll be fine. We have 3 very good running backs, so I don't see us putting Ainge in any position that he has to go out and win games by himself.

Eventually that time is gonna come like it or not. He is gonna have to play 100 times better than last year, but he doesnt have to be matt leinart. Just play with in the system.
