Ainge OR Clausen

Actually I think it was an overdose of self-important ego with a chaser of baseless assertions and uninformed conjecture

Is it a law that all QB threads must contain the exact same posts?

is it a law that someone like clausen should start for a program finally on its way out of mediocrity after some years now.....i hope fulmer really listens to the coaches instead of fans that seems satisfied with 8 win seasons

Ainge will be he qb..He never official lost the job, since Sanders got him hurt..He is the present and future

Personally, I think either will do well especially against UAB. My very big concern is that we are about a week away from the season and we don't have a starting quarterback!!!!!!!!!!!!! :banghead:

For me, that is not a good thing. The team must have an offensive leader to rally around and plan the season around. The indecisiviness on the coaching staff is scary. At this juncture, one would think that the decision had been made and the game plan started based on the talent of the Starting Quarterback.

Rick has been on the team for what 3 years now. Eric has been around for 2 and our coaches don't know which is the best. For me that is scary.

My biggest concern is that the coaching staff doesn't think either of them are ready. Time will tell. :dunno:

I hope Erik starts against UAB, he is definitely the QB of the future and he needs all the game experience he can get.

If Sanders and Fulmer decide after the UAB game that Ainge just isn't poised enough yet, then I can see going with Clausen for the Florida game.

I'm throwing my hat into Clausen's camp.

I like the kid's work ethic, attitude, and knowledge of the offense.

I believe he'll give us the best chance to win the close games.

I'm not predicting he'll be the guy, just saying that I hope he is.

Well, I like what Ainge brings to the offense with his ability and I like what Rick brings to it with his knowledge. I don't know who is going to start, but I can honestly say that I'm not nervous about the situation like I was last year around this time.

Well the season is about to start, so who do you think phil is going to go with?

I too am on the fence but I just have a feeling about Ainge. He's got something special I think. And Clausen is good but I don't think he'll ever be great. I'm hoping Phil will go with Ainge, but won't be surprised at all if he didn't. Clausen has the poise and patience that's for sure, but Ainge has that spark. I mean he had like 17 TDs all while trading off with Shaeffer and without even finishing the season, not too shabby. 10 days, 19 hours, 30 minutes.......but who's counting?!?!?

I love Rick and his unselfishness, but Ainge brings the threat of the deep ball. I think we need this to open up Riggs and co.

As others previously mentioned, it is a wonderful blessing to have both of them.

You are so right Jinxy, I'll bet Fulmer is on here right now counting up the votes and thinking to himself "Well, I guess its Clausen."

Its not who starts the game that matters to me its who finishes it. What we remember the most is clutch play down the stretch rather than the first hand off of the game, Who do you feel more comfortable running the 2 minute drill down by a touchdown facing a 4 th and long. IMO, CPF will tell us who he really thinks his man is when he is faced with that situation.
Stats mean very little. Who cares if one goes 9-20 in a game as long as they make the intangible plays and make the completions when they really count.
In the end we will be rooting whoever is in the game and guiding the vols to victory.

Ainge(and schaeffer) won the starting job last fall for a reason. If Clausen wasn't better than ainge as a true freshman that hadn't played a snap then how is he better now?

that's the way to straddle the fence

No sitting on the fence here. I'm hoping that Ainge gets the start but if it's Rick then it's Rick and I'll support it.
