Neither is Ainge!

Yes he is, he just needs a competent offensive mind to get him back on his game.

clausen  is one of the smartest players i think to ever come through ut but just doesnt have all that much physical ability. this can be good against some teams and bad against others. we need to stretch the field at times

How smart was it to throw the ball out of the back of the endzone while being across the line of scrimmage, especially when he could of run the ball for several yards. Not sure Ainge is smarter but Clausen is a senior QB who's brother was a 4yr starter at UT. I'd say he probably knows the offense a little better than Ainge.

it time to get ready for next year

Don't follow AU's example. TT wasted a lot of talent by not giving his younger players any play time. So this year when they're needed, they don't have the experience to back it up. And they can't get that actual experience on the team practice field.
Lesson: If you don't give them playing time this year, they won't be ready for next year.

How "smart is it" you say? I don't think that decision had anything to do with smarts. Did Clausen knowingly cross the line of scrimmage and say to himself "ahh what the heck I've crossed the line but I'm going to throw anyways."?? I think it would have been better for him to scramble and get about 2 or 3 yards and get out of bounds. The thing about it is, that he has a system and he stays in that system. That is what makes him so steady. When he runs out of the pocket he has taught himself to not even think about running down field. If nobody is open a red light goes off and his head and tells him to throw the ball away.

One thing he is steady at is not getting in the red zone.

Don't know and don't care.  Rick is our starting QB and Ainge is 2nd string. If Clausen dies then Ainge can play.

RC already plays like a dead man, a zombie. Can we replace him now?

IMO Clausen is scared to take any chances whatsoever. The guy does not make that many bad decisions, but it seems like every time he drops back he dumps the ball off to the RB or whoever the check down player is. He cannot throw an accurate deep ball...the best I have seen him throw this year was to Swain in the Bama game, and even that was underthrown and would have been a pick had the DB been playing the ball. Ainge has been very underwhelming this year as well, maybe some PT and a little success can straghten him out. I firmly believe the offensive problems this year all revolve around the lack of an effective QB. With RC in the game, the defense knows they don't have to worry about a deep ball, so it makes things that much more difficult.

Brother, does that say a mouthful too.

Speaking of mouthfuls, had a relative that played UT football, Academic All American two years running.

Then flunked his DCAT (dental entrance exam).

Why is it that everyone that I know that played college football, or knows anything about college football tells me that Clausen is just not that good?

He's a safe choice which falls right in line with CPF's line of thinking about playing not to lose as opposed to playing to win. He's a ham n egger QB that won't hurt the team too often because he throws short safe balls, handles the ball fairly well and the kid is pretty smart in football flow. Also CPF is playing booster politics here like a good politician placating the Clausens. On a scale from 1-10 Id put Rick at a 6 IMO.
