AJ Allmendinger Failed Drug Test

On the surface, yes. I find it hard to believe he's using though. I'll wait and see.

With Kenny Wallace possibly subbing for the 29 and Hornish filling in for the 22, I'm sitting by the phone hoping SPEED calls me to sub in.

Innocent until proven guilty. I just don't see A.J. as one that uses. Wouldn't have thought that of Jeremy Mayfield either though.

Question not so much for this race but in the future. If a driver is suspended this close to the start do the people who picked that driver get points for whoever replaces them?

Addiction knows no color be it skin or collar. Honestly tho who here could just cold turkey quit whatever your vice is ? Ok I know Meth and smoking are light yrs apart but even quiting nail biting is hard. Ok sorry ! Im all over the rd here but all yall are smart enough to get my point.

Yes. Anyone who chose Allmendinger last night received points for Hornish Jr. If a last minute replacement is made and contestants don't change picks, they receive points the replacement driver earns instead of no points at all.

I've got a question for NASCAR regarding this. How soon did they know the test results? The sample was taken after the Kentucky race. Did they not know the results until late Saturday? I don't know, but it shouldn't take a week to figure out if a driver failed a drug test. If they knew the results well before they announced it, they should have said something sooner, because they sure didn't leave Penske Racing with alot of time to make other arrangments. Luckily Hornish made it in time, but if NASCAR knew far in advance, the suspension should have taken place much earlier.

I wouldn't doubt that it took that long with all the red tape probably involved in the testing process.

I guess it did and I'm not accusing NASCAR of anything, it just seems like a full week is a long time to get test results. I don't know though.

I've heard NASCAR tests for a long line of things. Combine that with the July 4th holiday and the lab results were probably slower than usual.

This might be the end of AJ in Nascar regardless of what happens. He is a mediocre driver to start with so I don't see Roger putting up with him with this now. I bet Shell isn't too happy right now though. Since moving to the #22 they have had nothing but bad press, first with Kurt and now AJ. I wonder who will get the ride next year? Will Roger move Sam back up to Cup next year or try and find someone else?

I agree. Addiction can be a *****. Especially for those that are addicted to anything that has withdrawals.

I think the ride will be Sam Hornish Jr's to lose.

Is Kenseth a possibility for this ride? Something to think about.

Nah, Kenseth said he already has a deal in place. He is def going to Gibbs. I would almost bet the house on the 20 car and Home Depot.

I think that's what Gibbs is working on adn why Kenseth can't announce yet. Gibbs is probably trying to find sponsorship for the majority of next season for Logano(most likely Dollar General) and then sign him to a cup deal. If not, move Logano to Nationwide full time if Logano is willing to go that route. Just my guess though.

I would be surprised to see Logano move back to Nationwide full time unless he was unable to find a cup ride.

If I was him, I would rather run Nationwide in a car that could win a championship, than to go to a smaller Cup team that is not gonna compete on a weekly basis. If Gibbs can't fins sponsorship for him, not many other teams are gonna have much luck either. I think he'll be in a 4th Gibbs car.

Didn't really think about it that way.

Side note: A guy a work with said Nascar has a zero tolerance policy, meaning that if AJ's B sample comes up positive he is done. Anyone know anything about this? I know Mayfield was banned but I thought that was because he fail two tests.
