I absolutely am convinced the man has a screw loose when it comes to his environmental views and political views that stem from that, but one thing I never even would have accused him of was his family values he had always been a great dad and even faithful husband. This is shocking news to me.

Says they are separating....first step to divorce or trial separation? Also wonder if something happened or if they just went separate ways....tough to see 40 year marriages breaking up...at least the kids are grown.

It seems like if you could get along for 40 years of marriage than another 15 or 20 wouldn't be so hard.

These two had long since lost "the flame". They both have been totally ruined by their success, particularly Al from what I have been told. Al was a country boy with means married to a country girl with means, things haven't been the same since Al went Hollywood.

What this says to me is that they probably haven't been that happy for the past 10-15 years, but politics typically requires keeping up the wholesome family image. With Al no longer having aspirations of running for an elected office, then no need to continue in an unhappy relationship.

Wonder which one is leading the separation, or if it is a mutual decision?

Gore was a "country boy" who grew up as much in DC as anywhere. I never bought that "cleared our 100 acres with an axe" line.
