'20 AL ATH Damarcus "Dee" Beckwith (Tennessee signee)

Nice. We got the 3* now let's get the big fishes!
I am hoping you forgot the blue font. Just based on their highlight video... I wanted this kid over Darnell Washington even when it looked like UT was in good shape with DW with Beckwith an afterthought. DW looks like a big athlete playing football. Beckwith looks like a big football player with exceptional athleticism.

I think this is one of the kinds of players that the "right coach" will find and sign to turn UT around. He's not going to help win the "recruiting rankings".... but I think he will help win games and championships before he leaves.

I don't understand? How is stating that he's a 3* an issue? Is that an incorrect statement?
Or does he become a 5* now that he signed with Tennessee? I'm confused.
That's not what you did. You implied he wasn't important or talented and that we needed the higher rated players.

This kid has athleticism and potential to be one of the best if not the best player in this class.

I see this guy as the new breed of TE. Most of the prominent TEs in the NFL right now are the 6'4-6'6" WRs that can also block when needed. Ertz, Kittle, Kelce, Waller, Engram are all effectively used as outright WRs with 5-6rec/game and about 60-70 yards/game.

A lot of those guys are split out as slot, creating nightmares for coverage.

Also... everyone knows a ton about how prominent TEs are also basketball guys with every single top 10 TE playing at least HS basketball except Engram(6) and Tyler Higbee(10). Higbee was a dual-sport athlete, though, lettering in baseball.

247 has him as DE:

DAMARCUS BECKWITH PICKS TENNESSEE (8:39 a.m.)
Four-star defensive end Damarcus Beckwith picked Tennessee over Florida and Kentucky. The Vols were Beckwith's first ever scholarship offer, and that stuck with him throughout his recruitment. Beckwith ranks as the No. 358 overall player in the 247Sports rankings. He adds to a Tennessee class that now ranks 14th nationally. The 6-foot-4, 215-pound athlete will join his brother Camryn, a preferred walk-on commit, in Knoxville.
“I’d say it’s, one, closer to home,” Beckwith said. “I have more connections (at Tennessee) from people that I know outside of football. Sunday we were just hanging out with some friends from there — some people that actually go to the school.”

It isn't that you stated that he is a 3*, at least not to me. It's that you obviously haven't researched the kid or looked at his measurables nor watched his film. Beckwith is a 3* that we got to sign here at TN that Florida, Florida State, Auburn, Michigan, South Carolina, Kentucky and others would love to have gotten. What's wrong is that you left out that he is a 6'5 230 lb kid that can run like the wind with good hands and was wanted by some of our biggest rivals. I'll take a 3* like that all day long !

Can anyone explain how UF would have even been an option? A few minutes before his commit I noticed on UF’s 247 page they signed 24 in the early period, had 2 hard commits, and have 6 transfers. With all of the new rules 25 per cycle etc how can they accommodate that many?
@Jaws and @lawgator1 we would love to hear from you on this thread...😎
