What a nightmare having to defend wildcat formations for two contrasting styles like DB and JH. What if they were on the field at the same time with Bailey or Maurer at full potential with trick play options. The defenses wouldn’t know what to expect. Throw in Hyatt and/or Wideman in the same package. I hope everyone matures sooner than later. I can’t wait to see this. He’d be my second choice. Dee is already big for SEC standards hence why I would put him there.
-VQ.As for this team on the field, Eric Gray did return to practice this week. However, maybe the most interesting item in the running back room right now is Dee Beckwith who has practiced there since last Saturday.
“Dee (Beckwith) has done a really good job,” RB coach Jay Graham said. “In high school he did some wildcat and some things, so he had an understanding of it. When he first moved over, it hadn’t been long, but I tried to stick with what he does naturally and adjust from there. I think he’s done well with it. There’s been some times where we had to get him in position and I had to yell some things at him just as far as technique goes, but I think he’s done a really good job so far there. For a taller guy, he has the athleticism to do it and to play the position, so he’s been a really big help for us.”
Could Beckwith be the third “bigger” back for the Vols offense? With Tee Hodge nursing a calf injury, Beckwith has tried to make the most of his opportunities and has impressed. Much the same way Javontez Spraggins has.
Honestly that’s a really good comparisonSounds like Chaney wants Dee to be our college version of Taysom Hill. That flexibility especially if he develops into an adequate blocker at all 3 positions makes it hard to identify whether it’s a pass or run due to him not leaving the field for better run/pass blocking.
over hodge? that’s interesting.
