He continues to prove he has lost his mind! Hayward Bey over Crabtree and Maclin. Wow I would hate to be a coach under him

Reminds me of Jaguars picking Matt Jones in the first. Even if he's your #1 target at wideout, he'll be available in the second round.

I'm a Raiders fan. And yes, I was pissed. I'm even more pissed at the 2nd round pick. He would have been there in the 3rd or even 4th. Ugh.

My friend says he verified the pick under the realization that they'd just have Russell throw the ball as deep down field as he could and then Bey has the speed to get down there after it and catch it.

It's an important play, you know, for right before you're about to lose the game :)

I'd say Posivol believes that Kiffin made these choices before he left and Al Davis felt obligated to keep them.

And add to that the fact that the Raiders have Johnnie Lee Higgins that does the exact same thing...

But call me eternal optimist, kool-aid drinker, fulmerite... I don't care. I'm starting to think that maybe the picks will turn out okay.

4th round draft pick Darius Heyward-Bey with a total of 609 receiving yards in '08.

Heyward Bey was at least a 1st round talent, they just made a huge stretch.

The worst part was the 2nd round pick of a guy ESPN had no information or knowledge of. They didn't even know who he was and then Kiper said he was listed as the 40th best safety in the country.

Apparently the guy they took was a workout warrior and showed great work ethic, but he played for Ohio.

He probably ran a 4.3 40 at his pro day.

I swear Al Davis just puts everyone who runs a sub 4.4 on a dartboard and just chucks one up blindfolded and drafts whoever it lands on.

Amen. Could you imagine coaching that freaking team with a 90 year old Donald Trump as prez? Actually, I think DT would be better than that psychotic Davis.

I wouldnt be surprised if Bey ends up just like Troy Williamson and so many other college WR's who ran a good 40 at the combine then became complete busts. I know he didnt exactly have all-american QB's throwing to him at Maryland..... but there had to be a reason he didnt dominate at the college level. I mean Calvin Johnson lit it up for 3 years at Georgia Tech with freakin Reggie Ball throwing to him.

I hated the raiders long before UT had any connection to Kiffin (I am a 49er fan), but Al Davis is just sad at this stage in his life. That team will never be relevant again as long as he is still basically the head coach and GM. He decides who they draft.
