'24 AL EDGE Jordan Ross (Tennessee)

I love watching Boogie and Coach J. I'm not a big fan of when Boogie has the other regulars on but do like when he has Eric Cain, JD Pickell or personalities from other programs like Uncle Lou.

They have come a long way from around 1k subscribers with Dobber and Indy Kid when I first started watching. They are infinitely better than Sports Talk J or Nashville Rocket's vol shows. If Boogie got a former VFL to be part of the show it would be even better.
I miss VolsJP

I hate when people do this but I’m gonna do it anyway. I watched a little more film on this kid. He gives me Myles Garrett type vibes.

He’s got an excellent speed rush with a good dip and lean. He has really good lateral movement and gets blockers off of him on the inside. Kid has the natural ability plus fairly good fundamentals for a highschool junior’s film.
Heup and Co just keeps loading up on these high rated outside guys that seem like clones...Pearce, Josephs, Bradley etc etc..

It's gonna suck for a while for anybody that our offense puts in a hole...ala Viginia.

The article doesn't break it down unfortunately, but On3's averaging now has Ross as a composite 5*

"Ross, a Tennessee commit, is now the No. 28 overall prospect in the cycle and is one of 32 five-star prospects in the class. He’s also the No. 4 EDGE and No. 3 player in Alabama. "

not sure which service updated to rate him higher, but figured I would share.

This piece must've been written right before he committed to us.

Jordan Ross hears all the wonderful things being said about him, but he’s not taking it to heart...For Ross, such talk is merely yada, yada, yada. “I don’t really listen to all of that,” Ross said. “I see myself as one of the guys, trying my hardest to be the best player I can be. I don’t like talking about all that other stuff.”

But Ross, whose nickname is “Child's Play” because of his attachment to his Chucky doll when he was younger, is more than just another guy on the football field. Playing on the edge, he’s a physical presence and dominant force. During the 2022 season, Ross recorded 49 tackles with 16 tackles-for-losses and 2.5 sacks. He also forced several fumbles and scored two defensive touchdowns.

“There are not many people like him,” Evans said. “He runs the 40-yard dash in 4.5 seconds. It’s hard to find someone with his type of body and his skill set. He’s kind of quiet, but he’s self-motivated. He just continues to get better. If he stays healthy, he should make a lot of money one day. He’s an NFL talent and hasn’t even scratched the surface of what he is going to be one day.”

Jordan Ross was back in Knoxville this weekend and realized exactly why he chose the orange and white. “I loved all the fans,” Ross said. “They are really great. The gameday atmosphere was great and I’m really glad I’m committed to this school.”
Watching James Pearce, Tyler Baron and the defensive line be so disruptive got Ross fired up. “It gets me really excited to see them play like that,” Ross said. “I can’t wait to come back and get up here and be a part of it and start showing out.”
“It feels like home,” Ross said. “I feel like I’m surrounded by family. Me and some of the recruits went to the concession stand and they (fans) were telling us to come to Tennessee and how I can help out.”
Ross and Rodney Garner have known each other for quite sometime as coach and recruit. “It’s like another dad to me,” Ross said. “I talk to him every single day or at least try to.”
Ross has been destroying offensive linemen all season playing in 7A. “I’d say my consistency and my work ethic,” Ross said. “I’d say the one thing I’m doing well overall is my confidence. Watching film and going back over what I’m doing well and what I can do better.”
