The station reported that Penn State police became aware of the case on Sept. 26 of last year, and that it began with the alleged sexual extortion of two student-athletes, identified as Victim 1 and Victim 2 in the warrants. Victim 2 reportedly told police that he met a person he believed to be a woman, who was referred to as “Li,” on a dating app earlier that month. Victim 2 said that Li convinced him to share “sexually explicit photos of himself” with her, and then threatened to post those on social media platforms — including Penn State head coach James Franklin’s Twitter account — unless he sent more.
Victim 2 told police he believed other student-athletes at the school were victims of Li because she added him to a Snapchat group that included other athletes and told them to “give him advice.” Victim 2 said those athletes told him to “do what she said. That it would be bad,” WJAC reported.
That is when Victim 2 told police he shared the videos of a group sex act and other videos recorded from within Penn State’s locker room that showed the athletes in various stages of undress. Victim 2 said later in the month he blocked the woman when she would not stop making demands, and that is when he claims she began posting the content on Instagram. He said he notified Penn State’s athletic department and it began to assist him in taking down the Instagram posts.
The site reported that the warrant said one of the Instagram accounts allegedly used by Li had a dropbox folder that included 33 videos and one image. The Centre Daily Times said five athletes total were allegedly victimized by the woman, and that she reportedly told at least one of them “she liked doing this to athletes.”
