As good of a player as Al Wilson was, he was the epitome of a Team Captain and on the field Leader!

I'd rather break my arm than be the target of Al Wilson's scorn!

100% true and for God's sake not everything must be done for the purpose of catering to high school recruits... especially when it comes to something this trivial which they aren't even likely to take notice of anyway.

I can't think of a better former player to honor this way. Wilson deserves some recognition in Neyland Stadium.

Al Wilson exhibited what Tennessee football is all about. Anyone know if the likeness will be an action shot, pose, computer generated painting, etc.? :good!:

Forgot about Eric. :( Seriously though, why not put up an electronic type thing where they can change the picture and display someone different over time .... maybe even the honored VFL that week.

This keeps them out of trouble if they put someone there that then does something folks complain about and they have to take them down.

If the panels could be digitally changed, I’d love to see the two side ones change every ten seconds or so.

The left one could change between Vol All American football players....Wilson, Reggie, Peyton, Atkins, Lauricelli, etc.

The right one could change between all time greats in other UT Sports like Coach Mears, Summitt, John Ward.

The Center one would never change.
It should always be Robert Neyland.

Also love to see either the V-O-L-S letters or a Power T on top of the Jumbotron.

It is a recruiting picture for linebackers specifically and defensive players in general.

Take all of the pictures down and replace them with the Power T. Solves all problems. And while they are up there, put the V O L S back on top as well.

Absolutely correct...for a player to make this list, would be a very, very short list. Al has all the attributes...like you said, a Tennessean, All Conference, All American, Team Captain, NC winner, NFL career, Pro Bowler, solid reputation, loves the orange, no controversies, leader....that is A LOT of boxes he checks off. Not sure who else could check off all those boxes.

Only other person I would think of that could check off a lot of those boxes (less the NC, but add in Super Bowl winner and NFL and SEC player of the year) would be Reggie White....and he is already on the Jumbotron.

So, since you have Reggie on the Jumbotron, and no one else checks off those boxes, Al is the best candidate.

And for those of you who think Peyton--he misses one big box...He was not from Tennessee. Great career, great NFL career, but I like showcasing our in-state talent.

It’s a football stadium. Images should be football related. Don’t want to see Peyton’s visage during a Lady Vols game or Fulmer’s peeking out behind Grant Williams as he attempts a free throw.
