He contended with Bama at Ole Miss. He will beat the piss out of them at Auburn.
I love how people just assume GMac or Madden will take over when Nico leaves.Ehh, Freeze will need a game changer at QB. The SEC will be about Nico and Arch for the next two seasons, then we reload with GM. Good luck Freeze.
can't hurt that Auburn fired their OC and Cadillac just resigned. That program not looking very stable at the moment and bound to be some upset boostersI highly doubt we sign this guy, but we definitely should in theory have a pretty appealing pitch to him. Lots of opportunity in our WR room, both next year and in the future. Great QB situation compared to most teams. Great NIL. Explosive offense.
Still, feels like a longshot so won’t get my hopes up but hopefully we can get him on campus and have a chance to sell the vision.

Yeah but the secondary coach, offensive coordinator, defensive backs coach, defensive coordinator, and running backs coach all jumping ship has to be a red flag. Sure our staff will help bring it to his attention if they do get him to visit. plus all the coaches he knew at Auburn except Freeze are goneI’m not sure how often kids actually care about stability. It’s certainly an argument you can make, but he has ties to Auburn and Freeze is a hell of a recruiter with big bags so seems like the stability thing won’t be much of a needle mover. Hopefully it is though!

@MoB_MoVols wanna put your blurb in this thread?
Lets dream big here! Have to think with our offense, and the knowledge of having elite QB's in Nico, Merk, and likely Macintyre here has to be appealing!
He contended with Bama(Nick Saban) specifically, but never sniffed a title. Never won the SEC west eventhough he beat Saban in back to back seasons. He nearly beat him again this year with that garbage a$$ team. Having Saban's number alone does not make you a contender. Now Saban is gone.He contended with Bama at Ole Miss. He will beat the piss out of them at Auburn.
Yep. My dream scenario is that Nico starts in 24 and 25, then goes pro, Merk starts in 26 and 27 (as a RSSo and RS Jr) then goes pro, then GMac starts in 28 and 29 (as a RSJr and RSSr).I love how people just assume GMac or Madden will take over when Nico leaves.
Jake Merklinger is one of the best QB prospects we've ever had sign with us.
Gmac is not sitting for 4 years. I’d love to see 2-3 years of Nico, 1-2 of Merk/Gmac, so on and so forth. Best case scenario, we are the early 2000s USC with a qb in the first round every year.Yep. Ok let’s move to the juicy ‘buy your lottery ticket and see if you come up a winner’ part of the recruiting section. Tennessee has been in contact with five-star wide receiver Ryan Williams about possibly visiting next weekend in place of his originally scheduled Alabama visit.
-VQKelsey Pope already has had a nice cycle with Mike Matthews and Braylon Staley. Taking your shot here in this situation is a low risk, high reward play so we will see if the dialogue continues. Auburn is thought to be the team to beat, but if you are Tennessee, it doesn’t hurt to make the call.
I didn't suggest GMac would sit 4 years in that scenario. Redshirts in 25, backs up Merk in 26 and 27 as a RS Fr and RS So, respectively, then starts as a RSJr.Gmac is not sitting for 4 years. Freeze beat Saban two seasons in a row. If that's the only metric you're looking at, then you would think Freeze is a National Championship type coach. However, if you look at the overall record those two seasons...not so much. The Ole Miss record for most wins in a season is 11 and most wins during the regular season is 10. Freeze didn't set those records...Lane Kiffin did. He'll probably do well at Auburn, but his actual resume hasn't shown him to be an elite coach...just a good one.He contended with Bama at Ole Miss. He will beat the piss out of them at Auburn.
